Guardians of the Galaxy’s Dave Bautista ‘really wants’ to reunite with castmates, eyes DCU

As a film enthusiast with a soft spot for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), I can’t help but feel a tinge of excitement when hearing about Dave Bautista’s ambitions to collaborate with his fellow MCU colleagues outside of the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. Having grown up watching wrestling and witnessing Bautista’s transition into acting, it’s fascinating to see him express such a desire to delve deeper into the superhero genre.

Dave Bautista, who played Drax in the Guardians of the Galaxy series until the third film last year, is looking forward to working again with as many of his Marvel Cinematic Universe co-stars as he can in upcoming projects.

In a fresh interview to celebrate the premiere of his latest movie titled The Killer’s Game, featuring co-star Pom Klementieff from Mantis, Bautista expressed his aspirations for collaborating with Chris Pratt and other talented actors in future film projects.

As a movie buff speaking personally, I expressed to ComicBook.com that it’s my aspiration, indeed, I truly hope so. My ultimate aim is to collaborate with Karen Gillan again, following our shared venture on the 2019 comedy Stuber, and also continue working with Pom Klementieff.

I’m interested in collaborating with Chris Pratt and Zoe Saldana on a project that takes us beyond the Marvel Universe too.

Regarding a potential reunion taking place in the DC Universe (now managed by Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn), Dave Bautista hasn’t ruled out the chance of appearing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s competitor, a scenario that Director Gunn himself has hinted at vaguely on previous occasions.

He reiterated his stance and has always been transparent about it. It seems like the timing or circumstance needs to be perfect, but he is completely open to the opportunity. Moreover, he holds a deep fondness for James, and if given the chance, he’d gladly collaborate with him.

In a conversation with Variety this year, Bautista expressed that while his “Drax adventure has concluded”, he still has unfinished business within the realm of superheroes.

I’m yearning for a chance to step into more significant and diverse roles, perhaps even delving into darker characters. Ideally, I’d relish the prospect of portraying a menacing villain within the realm of the superhero world.

Apart from that, he clarified that he continues to maintain a connection with Marvel, and Kevin Feige is aware that he would welcome the opportunity to play a role if it were offered.

He said: “I love the universe — the superhero universe, I love it. I’m a fan. So Marvel or DC, if they call, I would answer the phone. And if the role makes sense, I’d be all over it.”
