GUNDAM Sequel Gives Domon A New Mech

As “Gundam GQuuuuuux” gears up to debut in North American theaters later this month, there’s been an overwhelming surge of fresh details about a beloved classic series, “Mobile Fighter G Gundam.” Despite wrapping up in the ’90s, the world of Domon Kasshu refuses to stay dormant. The latest twist? A sequel novel series titled “Mobile Fighter G Gundam Gaiden: The East is Burning” has been announced, where Domon returns as two new characters step into the limelight. In this upcoming sequel, it seems that Domon will be piloting a freshly designed mech!

To remind those who might be catching up, Domon initially appeared in the anime “G Gundam” piloting the “Shining Gundam,” a mech suit that catapulted him to greatness during global Gundam competitions and was behind his iconic moves such as the “Shining Finger.” In the series, Domon temporarily lost his first Gundam while battling against the formidable “Devil Gundam,” but subsequently received a significantly more potent suit – the God Gundam. It seems that in the upcoming sequel series, Kasshu may be receiving an upgrade as well.

The God Gundam II Arrives

In the recently released sequel of G Gundam, the lead character, Domon, steps aside for two fresh characters named Master Junior and “H.” Although promotional materials in the past suggest that Domon remains part of the mech world, it was uncertain what his final role would entail. The franchise has now revealed a sneak peek at the new mech, as well as suggesting that Domon’s new suit might soon have its own Gundam Plastic Model. Below is a description of the God Gundam II, accompanied by the latest poster.

The design of this suit originated from the ultimate battle of the 13th Gundam Fight. It comes with a novel Core Lander system introduced by Domon. Remarkably, each segment of its wings serves as a standalone weapon when detached.

G Gundam Sequel Details

It’s worth noting that a follow-up to the “G Gundam” series has not yet been officially greenlit for an anime adaptation. However, since the original director, Yasuhiro Imagawa, personally created this sequel, it is considered canonical within the Gundam universe. Although it hasn’t officially arrived in North America, Bandai Namco has provided a summary of Master Junior’s side story.

For twelve years, humanity has lived with the lingering fear from the “DG Incident.” Gundam battles have been suspended due to the spread of “DG Dust,” a toxic substance that contaminates Earth. Master Junior crosses paths with H, a girl from Shinjuku City who possesses a massive sroban and is on a quest to find the hidden treasure “Oriental Pearl” under Domon’s guidance. The Oriental Pearl holds the secret fighting style of the invincible Touhou school. Junior and H embark on a journey together in search of Kash, following clues from this treasure hunt.
