Confirmed news: The highly successful 2024 Road House movie remake featuring Jake Gyllenhaal in the main role is indeed coming back for a follow-up film. Remarkably, this sequel will be helmed by director Guy Ritchie.
In 2024, the film was helmed by Doug Liman and served as his modern interpretation of Patrick Swayze’s ’80s iconic cult favorite. It garnered much praise from enthusiasts, especially given the buzz surrounding a potential sequel.
In a change of plans, Liman won’t be back to helm the sequel. Instead, the scriptwriting responsibilities will pass to Will Beall, a writer renowned for his work in movies like Aquaman, Gangster Squad, and Bad Boys: Ride or Die.
Enthusiasts of the remake can take comfort in the fact that Jake Gyllenhaal is set to return to his leading character, Dalton, the once-renowned UFC athlete now working as a bouncer at a tumultuous bar in the Florida Keys.

Currently, there’s no information available about the storyline or characters for the upcoming sequel, but given that Ritchie is directing it, we can certainly look forward to an exciting, action-filled second installment.
Lately, Ritchie has been quite productive in the world of entertainment, debuting his Paramount+ show MobLand, a documentary on Netflix titled Diamond Heist, and most recently, revealing a teaser for his upcoming movie, Fountain of Youth.
Beyond his current projects, Ritchie is additionally engaged in the development of Wife & Dog. This production, overseen by Ritchie both in writing and direction, already boasts a renowned ensemble cast featuring Rosamund Pike, Benedict Cumberbatch, James Norton, and Cosmo Jarvis.
As I eagerly anticipate my next cinematic adventure, I can’t help but share my excitement about a new project on the horizon: Amazon Prime Video’s Young Sherlock series! In this intriguing reimagining, the talented Hero Fiennes Tiffin steps into the iconic role of the young Sherlock Holmes. I can hardly wait to see him bring his unique charm and intelligence to life in this captivating mystery series, expertly guided by the skilled direction of Ritchie. This is certainly one not to be missed!
It’s clear that the filmmaker is putting a lot of effort into various projects within the film industry, and it’s likely he’ll bring his exceptional skills to bear on Road House 2 as well.
In actuality, this new Road House installment marks their third joint project; they’ve previously teamed up for The Covenant and Black Bear.
It hasn’t been made clear why Ritchie took over as director for Road House 2, but in the past, Liman expressed unhappiness about how Amazon handled the original film after acquiring MGM.
