How to defeat Prometheus in Hades 2?

In the thrilling world of “Hades 2,” following the Olympic update, I found myself face-to-face with none other than the formidable Titan, Prometheus! As we progressed through the third level, it was here that we encountered this powerful being as the stage boss. A truly unforgettable encounter for any fan!

There might be a chance they came across Melinoë’s eagle ally, Aetos, during a fortuitous incident in a previous chamber. Aetos, being invulnerable to harm, can only bother Melinoë when they engage in a fight together.

Following their conversation, Prometheus and Melinoë are set to engage in combat. Initially, Aetos, whom Prometheus summons, will launch a series of swift attacks. Subsequently, Aetos will unleash a barrage of multidirectional projectiles.

As for Prometheus himself, he has a variety of dangerous moves. His four basic moves are:

  • A spinning kick
  • A barrage of short-ranged punches
  • An uppercut
  • A shockwave centered on himself

Each move also has an enhanced version:

  • Prometheus follows the spinning kick with a second kick which sends a wave of fire from himself
  • Each punch in his barrage will launch a homing fireball
  • The uppercut creates a flaming tornado which persists for a few seconds and pulls Melinoë if nearby
  • A second circle of fire appears outside the shockwave, damaging Melinoë if she crosses

Prometheus has two additional moves he will use at the end of some combos:

  • Prometheus readies a wave of fire which, when fully charged, he launches in the indicated direction
  • Prometheus places a tracking circle on Melinoë which, when fully charged, will fill with fire and persist in that area for a few seconds

Prometheus also has a move he uses at 66% and 33% health:

  • Prometheus leaps out the arena, becoming immune to damage. The ground will then light up with indicators of where he will attack with waves of fire. The player must remember the pattern to find the safe zones from his attacks.

This assault signals a significant shift in his behavior. During his second and third phases, he grows progressively more aggressive and is likely to employ his augmented attack methods more frequently.

To overcome Prometheus, exploit his restricted movement. He usually signals his attacks in advance, and can’t alter course after an attack has been initiated.

For ranged builds, it’s a simple matter of keeping a safe distance. For melee, use Melinoë’s dash to get behind Prometheus and punish his recovery windows.

The Deflect Dash from Athena will be especially valuable in this fight.

What is the lore?

According to ancient Greek lore, Prometheus was a Titan who chose to align himself with the gods instead of Chronos, the god of time. He made this choice because he possessed the ability to see into the future, and he foresaw that the gods would ultimately prevail in their conflict.

Hand in hand with my esteemed brother, Epimetheus, I, Prometheus, played a pivotal role in the genesis of mankind. To aid these newly-formed beings, I, in an act of defiance against the divine, pilfered the sacred fire from the heavens and bestowed it upon my fellow humans.

In retribution for the theft, Zeus bound Prometheus to a rock, where every day an eagle would arrive and peck at his liver. Remarkably, the Titan’s liver would regenerate overnight only to be torn apart again the following day. This agonizing cycle continued until eventually, the hero Heracles intervened and released Prometheus from his torment.

In the tale of Hades 2, Prometheus developed a friendship with the bird Aetos, formerly known as the eagle. In retaliation for how he was treated, Prometheus has aligned himself with the resurrected Chronos, and is now spearheading the assault against Olympus.

Nevertheless, Prometheus continues to feel compassionate towards the gods since he despises them for their harsh treatment of the humans he attempted to aid by bringing fire. In a discussion with Melinoë, they ponder the accountability of the gods towards mortals, as Melinoë is innocent and uninformed about the hardships endured by humanity.
