Despite the fact that Haikyuu’s manga concluded several years ago, this beloved modern sports anime continues to be one of the most popular in its genre, boasting an active and eager fanbase anticipating future installments. Haikyuu stands out due to its expansive cast that extends far beyond the series’ lead character Hinata Shoyo and Karasuno High’s team. The incredible success of the “Dumpster Battle” movie, which showcased the match between Karasuno and Nekoma High, demonstrates how skillfully Haruichi Furudate has developed Haikyuu’s characters as a whole, offering fans numerous heroes to rally behind, even when they become adversaries.

What’s Next For Haikyuu!! After The Dumpster Battle
2020 saw the airing of Season 4 for the popular anime “Haikyuu”. Then, fans had to wait almost four years until February 2024 when the “Dumpster Battle” movie was released. Given that “Haikyuu” was enjoying immense popularity in 2020 and had only a small amount of manga left to adapt, this long gap seemed puzzling. Now, after another year-long wait, it was announced at the series’ 10th anniversary event that another movie will be produced, adapting the match against Kamomedai from March.
Although opinions among fans varied about whether another film or a complete season was preferable, the news of a special adapting the match between Fukurodani and Mujinazaka did somewhat calm down fan enthusiasm. However, since neither the upcoming movie nor the special have revealed specific release dates yet, it remains uncertain when or if fans will get to witness their favorite characters from the series, who are expected to grow up after the time skip, on screen again, let alone the 2025 versions of them hinted at in Haikyuu‘s upcoming magazine.
