As a lifelong Half-Life enthusiast, I can hardly contain my excitement at the latest rumors swirling about the long-awaited Half-Life 3 (or HLX as it’s been codenamed). For nearly two decades, I’ve been following this franchise with bated breath, eagerly awaiting any shred of news about the sequel to one of my all-time favorite games.

The fact that the game is now being playtested by friends and family of those at Valve has me on the edge of my seat! I’ve been burned before with false starts and rumors, but this time, it feels different. The recent focus on Half-Life from Valve, particularly in celebration of the 20th anniversary of Half-Life 2, gives me hope that they might finally be ready to bring the series back in a major way.

Of course, I’ll remain cautiously optimistic until Valve makes an official announcement, but this could very well mean that we’re one step closer to finally playing another mainline Half-Life game.
