Halle Berry has made it clear that fans should not anticipate seeing her as part of the cast for the upcoming “Avengers: Doomsday” movie. When Marvel Studios revealed the cast for this film, they re-united many of the original X-Men actors such as Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen; however, Halle Berry’s name was missing from the list. Marvel has hinted at more announcements regarding the “Avengers: Doomsday” cast in the future, causing speculation about who else may join the team. Despite her significant role as Storm, Halle Berry has stated that she does not plan on reprising her character wearing the white wig again.
At CinemaCon, Black Girl Nerds had a conversation with Halle Berry about her upcoming movie, Crime 101. When asked if fans might see Storm’s name on a chair during the announcement of Avengers: Doomsday, Berry chuckled and said, “Keep hoping. It won’t be there. It won’t be there.” Whether Berry was being truthful or just playing coy with her answer remains to be seen among fans.
In the upcoming movie, “Avengers: Doomsday”, several original X-Men actors will reprise their roles. These include Patrick Stewart (Professor X), Ian McKellen (Magneto), Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler), Rebecca Romijn (Mystique), James Marsden (Cyclops), and Kelsey Grammer (Beast). Notably, two of these actors have previously worked on Marvel projects. Specifically, Stewart portrayed Charles Xavier in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness”, while Grammer reprised his role as Beast in the mid-credits scene of “The Marvels”.
In Doctor Strange 3, it’s suggested that Charles Xavier hails from a different Earth than the one the X-Men inhabit, but whether this is true for Beast remains uncertain. Following her awakening after sealing the rift across universes, Monica Rambeau found herself under the supervision of Dr. Henry McCoy, who goes by the alias Beast. Upon regaining consciousness, Monica also reconnected with her mother, Maria Rambeau, known as Captain Marvel (or Binary) in that particular universe.
Avengers: Endgame of Doom
In essence, the movie Avengers: Endgame of Doom is set to carry forward plot points from The Marvels, while simultaneously introducing the X-Men as they brace themselves to thwart an impending incursion that threatens their world. Characters such as Halle Berry, Hugh Jackman (Wolverine), Anna Paquin (Rogue), Shawn Ashmore (Iceman), and Famke Janssen (Jean Grey) who were absent from Avengers: Endgame of Doom thus far are expected to rejoin the cast. It may prove challenging for Marvel Studios to bring all these stars back, but they’ve already made significant strides in recruiting around half of them.
When queried about reprising the role of Storm in the film “Deadpool & Wolverine”, Berry informed ComicBook that she was not approached for the part. Berry replied in the negative when asked if discussions regarding her return had taken place. In a chance encounter with Blake Lively at a Marc Jacobs fashion show, Lively inquired if Berry would consider playing Storm in her husband’s film. Berry responded positively, stating she would participate if asked, but to date, she has not received such an invitation.
Alan Cumming posted a humorous video on social media, where he mimicked Nightcrawler’s actions by jumping around his home. He also shared old promotional photos from X2 featuring him in full Nightcrawler costume. In the caption, Cumming expressed that he had always been hopeful for the chance to play the mutant again.
Always keep an open mind!,” as Cumming stated using the #AvengersDoomsday hashtag and mentioning the official Marvel Studios account.
In a groundbreaking move, the five-and-a-half-hour live broadcast of the Avengers: Doomsday cast reveal broke Marvel Studios’ records, amassing an incredible 275 million views online, making it the largest digital event in Marvel history. The hashtag #AvengersDoomsday remained the number one trending topic on X (formerly Twitter) for over seven hours.
