For 2025, Halo is taking part in PRIDE Month celebrations again, whereas Reddit moderators are prohibiting users from recognizing any other themed months during June.
In June’s arrival, there’s a distinct change observed throughout the U.S., as many companies who traditionally launched Pride Month campaigns with vivid cosmetics, rainbow branding, and joyful posts have become conspicuously quiet. Companies such as Ubisoft, Target, Starbucks, Disney, among others – who used to swiftly change their social media banners or introduce limited-time Pride content without delay – have remained uncharacteristically silent so far.
One major exception, however, is the Xbox exclusive Halo.
In my role as a film enthusiast, I’d rephrase it like this:
On the 1st of June, the official Halo account shared a PRIDE Month message on their social media platform, inviting players to uncover themed elements within Halo Infinite. Remarkably, they chose to disable comments for this post.

During this month, we honor love, individuality, and the liberty to express yourself genuinely, as stated by the company. Log into Halo Infinite this month to obtain the Unity finishing, visor, and emblem, and showcase them proudly.
This post undeniably shows support for PRIDE, but compared to the post from June 1, 2024, which also turned off comments, this year’s tone is noticeably softer.
This year’s content does not feature any particular communities and deliberately omits direct referencing. Moreover, Halo X’s social media profiles have not been updated with PRIDE Month-themed visuals, which was a common practice among gaming and entertainment companies in previous Junes.
In the world of Halo, a divisive and escalating debate has ignited among fans over PRIDE. It’s been claimed that a fan-managed subreddit on reddit called r/Halo—which isn’t connected to Microsoft or 343 Industries—is barring users who express June as Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month, instead of the more commonly recognized Pride Month.

Currently, a post is gaining traction on social media platforms, displaying a user who asserts they were indefinitely prohibited from r/Halo due to posting “Happy Men’s Awareness Month.” The screenshot demonstrates that the user was banned for breaching subreddit regulations; however, no particular rule was explicitly mentioned. The message also includes the standard warning from Reddit administrators regarding ban evasion avoidance.
As a passionate gamer myself, I’ve found myself deeply frustrated by a recent moderation decision that’s sparked heated discussions among many of us. This decision seems to have hit a raw nerve, particularly among those who view mental health awareness for men as a crucial issue, especially in a gaming community where males make up the vast majority. The idea that discussing men’s mental health could potentially lead to a ban, while content promoting PRIDE is actively encouraged, feels like an unfair and contradictory stance.
In 2025, other businesses opted for a different approach; however, Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six Siege account kicked off June without promoting PRIDE messages, rather focusing on Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month instead.
It’s okay to take off the mask.
Strength and vulnerability are not mutually exclusive.
In June, we emphasize Men’s Mental Health Awareness. Let’s inspire each other by checking in on friends and asking about their wellbeing. Why not engage in a fun activity together? Remember to support one another during this time.

They mentioned, “It’s alright to remove your mask.” They emphasized that strength and vulnerability can coexist. June signifies Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month. Let’s encourage you to connect with friends, ask about their well-being, engage in a shared activity, and care for each other. Remember, everyone’s feelings matter.
In stark contrast to Ubisoft’s past endeavors, the Rainbow Six post didn’t contain any reference to PRIDE at all. However, this was a notable departure from their usual approach, which often features cosmetics, statements from developers, and employee-led initiatives under the UbiProud umbrella.
The contrast between Ubisoft’s approach, Halo’s more reserved stance, and the strict moderation at r/Halo raises a larger question within the gaming industry: Can initiatives promoting PRIDE and men’s mental health harmony during June be maintained, or are they becoming perceived as incompatible or conflicting entities within digital communities?
As we move through this month, the disparity between corporate communications, community management, and fan perceptions might persist in fueling discussions – possibly even leading to more tales like the one I’m sharing now.
