Due to the recent job cuts and project terminations at Microsoft, there’s been a noticeable rise in stress levels at Halo Studios. Nevertheless, the team has previously disclosed that they have been busy developing multiple projects, one of which is a revamp of the original Halo: Combat Evolved. As per a recent update by YouTuber Rebs Gaming, this upcoming Halo remake will focus solely on the single-player campaign; the multiplayer competition won’t be included in this particular project.
In the video linked below, Rebs Gaming shares information from his sources who claim that no evidence of multiplayer development for Halo: Combat Evolved has been found. These same sources mentioned an internal project, code-named Project Ekur, receiving frequent updates to its codebase. The project, rumored to be a battle royale game, is believed to have received regular updates approximately every six hours over several days. Additionally, there’s no news about the possibility of Halo Infinite being ported to PS5.
It’s important to mention that although Halo Studios has hinted at a revelation during the Halo World Championships, unverified whispers should be approached with caution. Earlier this month, they also suggested an announcement for October, which coincides with their first anniversary since rebranding from 343 Industries to Halo Studios.
Last year during the Halo World Championship, our team unveiled ‘A New Dawn’, discussing our transition to Unreal Engine, offering a sneak peek into Project Foundry, and revealing our transformation to Halo Studios as we embark on a new phase for Halo. For us, ‘A New Dawn’ marked the start of something fresh – this year at the Halo World Championship, we eagerly anticipate furthering that discussion.
Guesswork can be entertaining, but for the authentic news about what Halo Studios has been developing, make sure not to miss this year’s Halo World Championship! We truly look forward to your presence in Seattle during October.
In the process of their rebrand, Halo Studios announced that their upcoming projects will be created with Unreal Engine 5. As stated by studio head Pierre Hintze, this switch enables them to dedicate all efforts towards crafting numerous top-tier experiences.
Despite Microsoft’s recent layoffs affecting over 9,000 employees and creating tension at the studio, it seems that Halo Studios had already been under pressure. Reports suggest that the stress at the studio was already high due to the simultaneous work on various projects, particularly the development of additional content for Halo Infinite.
The developer mentioned, “It seems like no one is fully satisfied with the current state of our product.” He also added that there has been much discussion and encouragement aimed at motivating everyone to launch it promptly.
For now, the game Halo Infinite, playable on both PC and Xbox Series X/S, has begun its Operation: Reclaimer mission.
