- Helljumpers is a community-made Helldivers 2 mode coming to Halo Infinite soon. It’s being made by The Forge Falcons, a team of talented fans using the game’s Forge mapmaking tool to create custom gameplay experiences.

As a seasoned gamer and longtime Halo fanatic who has spent countless hours on both sides of the battlefield, I can confidently say that the upcoming release of Helljumpers is like a dream come true for me. Having grown up with the original Helldivers on PC, I’ve always yearned to experience its fast-paced, cooperative gameplay in the Halo universe.
Since 343 Industries enabled players to incorporate PvE campaign enemies into maps within Halo Infinite’s Forge mode mapmaking tool, the game’s community has produced numerous custom levels and modes that creatively utilize this feature. One of the most thrilling examples is Helljumpers, a high-octane, Halo-inspired version of the widely acclaimed cooperative shooter Helldivers 2. This game captured the attention of Windows PC and PS5 gamers earlier this year. The Forge Falcons, an accomplished team of map creators responsible for developing Helljumpers, first announced the mode in late March, and they have been working on it for over seven months now.
Showcasing customizable tactics, dynamically changing goals, mid-game enhancements and advancement options, a retrieval method, a massive map reminiscent of Halo 3: ODST’s ominous nighttime urban landscape, and much more, Helljumpers certainly aims high. With over 4,000 script nodes and an exhaustive Forge budget, The Forge Falcons have left no stone unturned in their mission to deliver the exhilarating action of Helldivers 2 to Halo enthusiasts on Xbox and PC. At last, we now have a release date for this mode!

In the trailer, we see a team of four characters descending into the ominous urban landscape of Helljumpers, searching for a vital object and subsequently infiltrating a transmission tower with the intent of destroying it completely. As they progress through combat, hordes of different enemies from The Banished arrive in large numbers to obstruct their mission. The Spartans engage these adversaries using their firearms, along with heavy artillery bombardments and protective barriers, ultimately battling their way to their escape on a Pelican evacuation ship.
As I gaze upon this tantalizing sneak peek, I’m utterly captivated by the intricate visual design and meticulous attention to detail within the map itself. The rhythm of the combat is enthralling, and the custom-tailored strategies are nothing short of impressive. Given the structure of Helljumpers, it seems we’re in for a rollercoaster ride of exhilarating and chaotic confrontations as the action intensifies following the completion of initial objectives.
An essential point to remember is that upon the release of Helljumpers, you won’t have to pay a dime to join the game, as Halo Infinite’s multiplayer – encompassing Forge mode and all user-generated content produced from it – will be entirely free for both Xbox consoles and Windows PC. The campaign does require a purchase, though it is accessible via Xbox Game Pass. This is advantageous primarily for Xbox users, as Helldivers 2 isn’t compatible with Microsoft’s consoles.

The dream, of course, is official matchmaking support for Helljumpers, though I’m not sure whether that actually has a chance of happening or not. The Forge Falcons’ CoD: Zombies-style Survive the Undead mode was briefly added to matchmaking earlier this year and is actually scheduled to become a permanent part of Halo Infinite’s content suite on October 8, but its matches are generally pretty quick — only a few minutes long, in most cases. In contrast, a full playthrough of the Helljumpers experience has been said to be between 3-5 hours long, which may be far too lengthy for matchmaking consideration.
Although it may not happen immediately, there’s still the possibility that this feature could be fine-tuned and integrated for matchmaking in the future. And even if it doesn’t, you’ll always have the freedom to jump headfirst into chaos with a band of companions – remember Halo Infinite? Also, don’t overlook the Custom Game Browser, which is likely to attract a multitude of players eager to team up when Halo Infinite launches on October 25.
