As a passionate admirer of Halsey, I find myself deeply moved and respectfully awestruck by her extraordinary resilience and vulnerability. Her unwavering dedication to her artistry, even amidst personal hardships that would deter most, is nothing short of inspiring.
Halsey is opening up on another personal hardship.
The singer known for “Bad at Love” (originally named Ashley Frangipane) openly discussed her past struggles with miscarriages, revealing that she experienced two of them in the same year. This happened several years prior to the birth of her son Ender, whom she had with ex Alev Aydin.
“During a concert, Halsey shared on an episode of the ‘She MD’ podcast (Aug. 6), I experienced a miscarriage earlier in the day. It was a challenging situation because it was early in my career, and there were many stakeholders involved such as a corporate partner, a major media entity, and not to forget, a thousand eager fans who had waited all day for the show.”
29-year-old actress, who is presently in a relationship with former “Victorious” star Avan Jogia, mentioned that she had little opportunity to fully absorb the sadness immediately before her 45-minute performance.
She explained, “In the end, I decided to wear an adult incontinence pad. I attended and performed at a show. Upon leaving the stage, I vomited in the parking lot. I then checked into a hotel room. The entire night was spent feeling unwell. One vivid memory I have is sitting in the bathtub, unsure of how to handle the bleeding—I apologize for the graphic details.”
During a time when Halsey hadn’t yet released her debut album, she went through a series of miscarriages. Subsequently, she openly discussed the emotional fallout from this experience and revealed that she had to resume traveling just hours later.
They went on to say, “I hadn’t the slightest clue who to confide in, nor did I know what course of action to take. That was one instance of miscarriage, and within the same year, it happened twice. At 20 years old, I thought I should be able to nurture a child. Yet, I didn’t desire pregnancy. My career consumed me entirely. Thus, I experienced a mix of relief, but also confusion, guilt, and sorrow.”
Despite not being prepared to become a mother during her miscarriages, Halsey shared that experiencing them helped her evaluate her reproductive wellbeing.
Reflecting on that moment, she pondered, “If there’s something amiss with me, it must be now, at a time when I should naturally be capable of conceiving and carrying a pregnancy to full term. Yet, something seems off. What could be the reason?”
Indeed, Halsey received an official diagnosis of endometriosis after experiencing miscarriages. With the assistance of Dr. Thais Aliabadi, she faced no obstacles in conceiving her current three-year-old child.
“Halsey stated that, thanks to her advice, I found myself in a remarkably favorable situation for,” she continued about the simplicity of her subsequent pregnancy. “Interestingly, when I actually became pregnant – I thought it might take 6-12 months – it happened on the first try.”
