  • The PDP REALMz Wireless Controller: Minecraft Diamond Print is one of very few third-party controllers that are both wireless and under $100.
  • The transparent controller features a collectible ‘Steve’ figurine in the grip, and customizable LED lighting.
  • The controller will retail for $79.99 in the US, and we got an exclusive first look before the official launch on November 20.

As a tech enthusiast who has been following the gaming industry for years, I must admit that my heart skipped a beat when I got a sneak peek of the PDP REALMz Wireless Controller: Minecraft Diamond Print at Gamescom 2024. The wait was finally over! This controller is not just another accessory; it’s a testament to the power of collaboration between gaming giants and third-party manufacturers, resulting in an affordable, wireless, and Minecraft-themed masterpiece.

Since my exclusive behind-the-scenes peek at Turtle Beach during Gamescom 2024, I’ve been keeping a secret close to my chest. Among the various Xbox accessories they unveiled, one truly caught my eye – the stunning Minecraft-themed wireless controller, designed for fans of both Minecraft and Xbox, following their acquisition of PDP accessories earlier this year. Initially, photos weren’t allowed, but now that I have it in hand, I can share as many as I wish!

This PDP Minecraft controller boasts an official license from both Xbox and Mojang. It comes with a collectible Steve figurine in its right grip, and sports a distinctive multi-layered design embellished with diamond details reminiscent of Minecraft. But what makes it tick? Here’s the inside scoop:

  • The built-in rechargable battery claims 40 hours of uninterrupted gameplay time.
  • The controller is compatible with Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Windows PCs.
  • Wireless is delivered by an included USB-dongle with 30-feet range.
  • Dual rumble motors housed in the grips.
  • Customizable LED lighting effects can be adjusted using the ABXY buttons.
  • Audio controls are built-in to manage volume, game/chat balance and mic mute from the D-pad and 3.5mm audio jack.
  • Each controller includes an exclusive Minecraft “Time Flies” Tee digital item code for an added in-game bonus.

This controller features two customizable rear buttons that can be adjusted dynamically or synced with the PDP Control Hub app. The app offers options to tweak deadzones, as well as reconfigure the triggers for personalized control settings.

Third-party wireless controllers are still a rarity

The PDP REALMz Minecraft controller made me sit up and take notice not only because of its design, but because wireless third-party controllers remain a rarity, with only a select few brands licensed to deliver wireless options for Xbox. Earlier this year, we saw the release of some high-end options like the Razer Wolverine V3 Pro and Turtle Beach’s own Stealth Ultra Wireless, but these models come in at over $149.99. PowerA also joined the lineup with its Fusion Pro Wireless at $149.99 for the Lumectra edition, and the more affordable Fortnite Wireless at $99.99.

Currently, the PDP REALMz stands out as the most affordable choice at only $69.99, making it an appealing pick for Minecraft enthusiasts, especially with the upcoming holiday season. If you’re familiar with PDP’s accessory line, you might recognize the design from their Minecraft-themed Nintendo Switch controller, designed for smaller hands. However, this Xbox version is a full-size model, catering to all players. This year, Turtle Beach took over PDP and its unique accessories, and upon first use, I can sense an improvement in build quality with this controller.

It’s about damn time

It’s been quite some time since I last got my hands on a fresh Minecraft controller for Xbox, as the company has been rather slow in releasing collaborative designs since the One S and One X eras. However, I’m thrilled to see that they’re stepping up their game now, providing more variety for current-generation Minecraft enthusiasts. The fact that it’s wireless and priced under $100 makes it even more appealing. With the upcoming release of the Minecraft movie in April, I anticipate this controller will be a hit among both kids and parents.
