The Happiest Baby company is taking accountability.
Four months following the heartbreaking loss of their newborn son Rocky, influencer Brooklyn Larsen and her husband Tanner Larsen experienced public outrage when the Happiest Baby company allegedly asked them to return a $1,700 bassinet they had received in exchange for promoting their brand on social media. In response to the backlash, the company has now issued a formal apology.
As a dedicated follower of Happiest Baby, I would like to convey our heartfelt condolences to the family who has recently experienced the loss of their son. We deeply regret an attempt made by us to offer assistance that unintentionally exacerbated Brooklyn’s grief, and for this, we are genuinely sorry.
To prevent such incidents from recurring, we’ve made necessary adjustments internally,” the statement added. “The unfortunate event that occurred in Brooklyn is hard to fathom, and our hearts go out to those mourning her.
As told by Kenna Bangerter, the sister of a former contestant on “So You Think You Can Dance”, Happiest Baby requested the return of the bassinet after being informed that Brooklyn could not deliver the content they had agreed upon in their promotional deal. Feeling upset for Brooklyn, Kenna shared this story publicly on social media.
Kenna expressed deep disappointment towards a particular brand in a now-expired Instagram story, during these difficult times. After sending an email regarding the product she couldn’t send, because her baby had passed away, they asked her to return the bassinet. The empty bassinet remained next to her bed, as she hadn’t ‘delivered the product’, in their terms.
She went on, asking you to consider the reason behind her inability to provide the content. “I’m appalled,” she said, “by a company that markets itself as caring for mothers and infants, yet showed no compassion by not allowing her time to mourn the bassinet she never got to use.
In essence, Brooklyn, mother of 4-year-old Rome (from a previous relationship), was deeply grieving following an unbearably sad event: the stillbirth of her child, having also endured a miscarriage in December 2023.
Brooklyn, age 29, and Tanner, age 30, shared in a joint Instagram post from November: ‘Our hearts are broken.’ They explained that their precious baby didn’t survive. On Sunday evening, at 40 weeks and 2 days, Brooklyn went into labor naturally. Filled with anticipation, they rushed to the hospital, but were given the heart-wrenching news that they couldn’t detect the baby’s heartbeat.
The couple gratefully spent the following 12 significant hours with him, enveloped by our loved ones, showering him with all our affection,” they went on to say. “We struggle to articulate the intense sorrow we experience at the loss of our child and Rome missing his younger sibling.
