As a long-time fan and follower of Adam Sandler’s comedic genius, I am absolutely thrilled to hear that Happy Gilmore is making a comeback! The original movie was a staple in my DVD collection during my college years, and Shooter McGavin’s antics always brought a smile to my face.
Adam Sandler is back to his old stomping ground at the country club, as he revisits one of his cherished roles from his successful acting career. This week, Netflix confirmed that filming on Sandler’s upcoming film titled “Happy Gilmore 2” has commenced production. Alongside this exciting news, Netflix also shared some significant casting updates for the sequel to “Happy Gilmore 2“, with a few familiar faces from the original movie set to reprise their roles in the new installment.
Netflix announced on social platforms that both Christopher McDonald (as Shooter McGavin) and Julie Bowen (as Virginia Venit) will return for the sequel to “Happy Gilmore.” In other words, these beloved characters are set to join Happy once more in this new installment. Additionally, musical artist Bad Bunny and NFL player Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs are also part of the cast for “Happy Gilmore 2.

In August, as the production of “Happy Gilmore” was getting underway, Sandler himself revealed that Kelce had joined the cast. This was during a conversation on “The Tonight Show”, where Sandler mentioned, “We have something special planned for Travis,” when asked about the rumors surrounding his role in Happy Gilmore.
Kelce also addressed those rumors, albeit before the news was officially announced by Sandler or anyone else. He played coy on his New Heights podcast, saying he’d do anything to be involved in the film should an opportunity arise.
As a gaming enthusiast, if there’s a chance for Happy Gilmore 2 and they need extras, I’m all in! I’d jump at the opportunity to work around that iconic movie set. You never know, dreams can become reality – it just might be something people aren’t aware of yet. So, who knows? Maybe I’ve already been invited for discussions, or maybe not. But one thing’s for sure, I’m ready and waiting!
Before the movie was even made public, McDonald hinted at his role months earlier, which later turned out to be official when he was included in the cast.
Two weeks back, I ran into Adam, who said to me, “McDonald, you’re going to adore this!” I asked him, “What are you talking about?” He replied, “Take a look at this,” and showed me an early version of the script for Happy Gilmore 2. During an interview with Cleveland’s 92.3 The Fan radio station, McDonald shared that he might want to omit that detail (from the recording) because he doesn’t want to lie, but admitted that Adam did indeed show him the script. He then added, “That would be fantastic!” So, it seems like the project is underway. Fans are clamoring for it, isn’t it?
