As a devoted admirer of captivating storytelling and exceptional talent, I am beyond thrilled to witness the collaboration between James Norton and Sally Wainwright for their upcoming feature film. Their past works have left indelible impressions on me, and I eagerly anticipate the unveiling of this new masterpiece.

In place of another episode of Happy Valley, one of its esteemed actors and the creative genius behind the series are joining forces for a completely fresh film project.

Correct! – James Norton and Sally Wainwright are coming together for the first time on a feature-length movie, which is Sally Wainwright’s debut in this film format.

In a recent interview with Deadline about their TV and movie production company Rabbit Track Pictures (which they jointly manage with Kitty Kaletsky), Norton shared their future plans. They stated, “To every writer who enters our room, we emphasize, ‘We don’t want you to feel like you get lost in the process.’

As a fan, I believe one factor contributing to our success in completing certain projects was our commitment to giving people our undivided attention. Kitty and I made sure they knew we were fully engaged and present throughout the process.

Regarding upcoming projects, Norton shared: “We’ve recently recruited Jack Thorne for a new venture, and we’re quite thrilled about it. We also have a project by Sally Wainwright in development. We’re ready to take things to the next level.

Although specific details about the forthcoming film collaboration with Wainwright, the writer-producer-director, remain unknown, she’s well recognized for her diverse television projects. Therefore, this marks her first movie venture, making it an eagerly anticipated development. However, we’ll simply have to stay tuned to find out more about its plot.

Beyond Happy Valley, Sally Wainwright has earned recognition for her productions like Last Tango in Halifax, Gentleman Jack, and most recently, Renegade Nell. Currently, she’s engaged in the development of Riot Women, a comedy series that chronicles the journey of a group of women experiencing menopause as they start a punk rock band.

The next project from Rabbit Track Pictures is titled “Playing Nice,” a series adapted from the novel of the same name by JP Delaney. This series is set to air on ITV in the near future, having been commissioned as early as 2023. The main cast includes Norton, Niamh Algar (known for Mary and George), James McArdle (recognized from Sexy Beast), and Jessica Brown Findlay (famous for The Flatshare).

Regarding the show, Norton expressed: “It’s essentially a psychological exploration rather than a typical thriller. Our writer Grace Ofori-Attah, director Kate Hewitt, and I all wanted to delve as deeply as possible into these four characters, placing them in challenging situations and observing their reactions.

“In the breathtaking backdrop of Cornwall, two sets of parents find out that a mix-up at the hospital switched their toddlers at birth. Now, they must grapple with an agonizing decision – should they keep and nurture the sons they’ve grown attached to, or pursue the biological child they never knew?

In the throes of a haunting reality, I, Pete (James Norton), find myself entangled with Maddie (Niamh Algar) in this peculiar quadrangle. The entry of Miles (James McArdle) and Lucy (Jessica Brown Findlay) seems to bring a semblance of unity, but as days pass, it becomes apparent that beneath the surface, we harbor secret agendas.

Given the circumstances, how much can each pair truly rely on the biological parents of their child, or each other? As Pete and Maddie face immense stress, they come to understand that they will go to great lengths to preserve their family unit.
