Harlan Coben’s first US-based Netflix adaptation confirmed: I Will Find You

As a long-time fan and follower of Harlan Coben’s captivating crime fiction, I am absolutely thrilled to see his next novel adaptation, “I Will Find You,” set in the United States for the first time on Netflix! Having binge-watched every single one of his UK-transposed series, I have grown accustomed to the British accents and charming landscapes. Yet, there’s just something about the American grit and authenticity that makes Coben’s stories truly come alive.

Over the past few years, Harlan Coben has become a significant resource for Netflix, with his extensive library of crime fiction novels serving as the foundation for many successful series.

Shows like “The Stranger”, “Stay Close”, and “Fool Me Once” have all experienced tremendous success on the platform, and it’s highly likely that “Missing You” will continue this trend when it debuts in early next year.

I’ve always admired Harlan Coben’s novels, which are all rooted in the US, yet interestingly, most of the screen adaptations based on his works have been shifted to the UK (with a few exceptions in Poland, France, and Spain). However, that trend is about to be broken with the first American-set adaptation of his work on Netflix.

The platform has revealed that they will adapt yet another novel by author Harlan Coben for their ongoing collaboration – the upcoming 2023 tale titled “I Will Find You.” This eight-part series is set to unfold within the United States.

The show, originally developed by Robert Hull, revolves around an unsuspecting father sentenced to life in prison for a crime he supposedly committed – the murder of his own son. However, new evidence emerges suggesting that his child might still be alive. Consequently, this father finds himself compelled to escape from prison to uncover the truth about his child’s fate.

Although no actors have been confirmed for the series at this time, given that Coben often attracts well-known talent for his dramas, it’s likely we’ll see some recognizable stars joining the cast soon enough.

It’s worth noting that while this is the first American-set Coben adaptation for Netflix, Prime Video did release Harlan Coben’s Shelter in 2023, which was based in New Jersey.
