The Harry Potter TV series on HBO hasn’t officially announced any actor for any part yet, but there are whispers about who they might be considering for key roles like Snape, Dumbledore, and Hagrid. These rumors come from reliable sources, so it seems likely that they are accurate, but fans are hoping this isn’t the case. Alternatively, perhaps HBO is reconsidering its choices. Needless to say, the proposed cast for the Harry Potter TV show on HBO has stirred up a lot of controversy and hasn’t been well-received at all. In fact, it has caused quite a stir.
As a film enthusiast, it’s peculiar to see that some key figures are conspicuously absent from the latest gossip mill, such as Harry Potter, my dear friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. Interestingly, there seems to be no mention of Voldemort or the Malfoy family in these rumors either.
When there’s no official word on casting, Harry Potter enthusiasts have been expressing their preferences for who should play the different characters. Among these suggestions, fans are particularly eager about who they believe would make an ideal Lucius Malfoy, or in other words, the perfect father of Draco Malfoy.
On Reddit, a popular post on the dedicated page for the upcoming HBO show claims that Dan Stevens is perfectly suited to play Lucius Malfoy. For those who aren’t familiar with the 42-year-old English actor from London, you might recognize him as Matthew Crawley in Downton Abbey, the Beast in 2017’s Beauty and the Beast, or David in 2014’s The Guest. However, his acting career extends beyond these roles, earning him several award nominations, although he has yet to take home one of those honors.
Dan Stevens was born to be Lucius Malfoy

Based on the post’s high engagement and comments, it appears that many Harry Potter enthusiasts support the proposed casting. Yet, there are some who express reservations about his ability to portray an entirely villainous character like Lucius Malfoy, suggesting he might be more fitting for a humorous role such as Lockhart instead. Others believe he could handle the part, and some have gone so far as to propose him as a candidate for Voldemort.
The likelihood of Dan Stevens appearing in any role on the TV show is rather low, given how probability tends to play out. Yet, if he were cast in multiple roles, it seems Harry Potter fans would find that appealing. Nevertheless, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Could Dan Stevens excel as young Lucius Malfoy?
