In the series Suits LA, the characters have predominantly held our attention, but when a figure like Harvey appears, it’s tough for any other character to outshine him. Though it was enjoyable to catch up with Harvey again, we’ve also uncovered that he has experienced a significant setback. Following the events in episode 9 of Suits LA, there might not be much more to explore regarding Harvey’s character, as he is now navigating a new phase of his life after another tragic family loss.

In my personal take on the ninth episode of Suits LA, I was moved to witness two poignant developments in Harvey’s storyline. Firstly, it was heartwarming to discover that he and his wife Donna share a young son who has a special bond with Harvey – a beautiful reminder of their strong marriage.

Secondly, the episode hinted at the tragic loss of Harvey’s brother Marcus, who passed away a few years prior. Although Marcus wasn’t a recurring character on Suits, his brief yet impactful appearances left no doubt about the depth of Harvey’s affection for him, making this loss all the more heart-wrenching.

Sadly, it appears that the actor who portrayed Marcus, Billy Miller, passed away in 2023, which may explain why his character was written out of the series. It left me reflecting on how even minor characters can make a lasting impact on our favorite shows.

Previous episodes of Suits unveiled that Harvey’s parents had both succumbed to heart attacks, albeit under different circumstances. Even though they are gone, Harvey had always been close to Marcus. However, the revelation in episode 9 of Suits LA made it all the more distressing because Marcus too is no longer alive. Now, with Marcus gone as well, Harvey is left without any blood relatives from his original family circle.

Through Harvey’s wedding ring, a subtle nod to Donna in Suits LA, and exchanged messages between Harvey and his son, it has become apparent that Suits LA has shed light on numerous heartwarming aspects of Harvey’s bond with Donna. Although Sarah Rafferty hasn’t been seen in the Suits spinoff yet, her frequent mentions by the Suits LA cast have only served to underscore the deep affection between them. She is an ideal match for Harvey, and their mutual and steadfast support demonstrate that they are not just a strong pair, but also a loving family.

Now that Harvey and Donna are parents, this provides an opportunity for Harvey to offer his son a bond with him that was lacking in his own relationship with his parents, given the strained connection he had with his mother due to her infidelity towards his father. The affectionate bond between Harvey and Donna on ‘Suits’ will ensure that their son will never have to endure the pain Harvey experienced. Although he may have lost one family, he has now gained a loving one.

In a parallel universe where Harvey didn’t have the close bond with Donna that he does now, the loss of his brother Marcus would have been exponentially harder for him to bear. With no one else left to turn to after the passing of his parents and Marcus, he would have felt utterly isolated in his grief. Suits LA hinted at Harvey’s lingering sorrow over his brother’s death, which only underscores the importance of Donna’s presence as a source of emotional support for him during this difficult time.

The bond between Donna and Harvey is filled with numerous advantages, one of which is their mutual ability to be there for each other. They are both extremely supportive and genuinely comprehend one another. Despite the fact that Suits LA hasn’t depicted the couple on screen together, it has been disclosed that they have continued to strengthen as life partners, even welcoming a child into their family. If Harvey were to confront Marcus’ demise without Donna by his side, it could have been an insurmountable challenge. Thankfully, her presence and their newfound family provided him with the affection and support he required during his moments of grief.
