However, while this dispute continues, there are whispers that the planned sequel to ‘A Simple Favour’, starring Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick, has been put on hold by Amazon Studios.
Filming concluded in Spring 2024, and there were whispers about a continued dispute between Lively and her co-star Anna Kendrick that allegedly started during the first film. This seems to have originated from Amazon not announcing a release date yet, which is unusual given that it had been more than a year since they wrapped up production. Director Paul Feig has clarified the situation, stating, “This is post-production, which typically takes at least six months when you consider editing, scoring, special effects, sound mixing, closed captioning, and all the technical quality control required.” He further explained that their post-production schedule aimed to complete everything by mid-January. Movies don’t come out immediately after completion because studios need time to decide the optimal release date. They had always intended for a spring/summer 2024 release. This is how movies generally work, and he hopes this clarifies the situation.
He enthusiastically praised the sequel, commenting, “This movie is fantastic! Both Blake and Anna deliver outstanding performances. I can’t wait for everyone to watch it. Simple Favor 2 will be here soon!” It should be noted that directors rarely criticize their own films before release, and the original film was quite successful, grossing $97 million on a budget of only $20 million.
