As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I can’t help but feel a familiar thrill coursing through my veins as Hazelight Studios and EA Originals start teasing their next game. The cryptic messages and playful banter between Josef Fares and the studio itself are reminiscent of the build-up to masterpieces like “It Takes Two” and “A Way Out.
It appears Hazelight Studios, creators of “It Takes Two” and “A Way Out”, are hinting at the unveiling of their next project, a brand-new intellectual property. Similar to their previous games, this one will be distributed by EA Originals, potentially in 202?. The note on the pad suggests “Final_final_3_Mdown_13”, a term possibly referencing final edits made by video editors, hinting at an imminent trailer release.
In a different tweet, the founder Josef Fares expressed excitement about revealing it shortly and revealed its title as “Asterisk Asterisk N.” It’s not related to “Star Citizen,” as the second word contains an additional letter.
Previously, Hazelight Studios or Fares have hinted at their upcoming project more than once. Back in April, they announced that they were working on some “really great” new projects which they would talk about this year. Later on, Fares stated that the next game would surpass “It Takes Two” and leave players astonished. One thing we know for certain: This fresh IP is going to be another cooperative adventure, as Electronic Arts confirmed in a separate tweet.
It’s not unreasonable to expect an announcement sometime between October and November, and then a reveal at The Game Awards in December. Given Fares’ past involvement with such events, it seems plausible. Keep an eye out for further developments.
Meanwhile, it was revealed that the game titled “It Takes Two” has achieved a significant milestone by selling 20 million copies ever since its release in March 2021.
