He Got What He Deserved!

Madeline Brewer’s take on the You series finale? Sorry not sorry.

Indeed, it fell to the actress’ character Brontë to successfully capture Penn Badgley’s notorious serial killer Joe Goldberg, thereby ending his violent rule—and she believes the protagonist from ‘You’ received precisely the justice they deserved.

At People’s App Party on April 29, Madeline shared with TopMob News, “I really enjoyed how the show concluded. I am overjoyed and content as a viewer. To all who appreciate it, thank you; for those who didn’t, hopefully, they will find something they enjoy in the future.

Fortunately for me, the alumnus from “Orange is the New Black” didn’t need to travel far; they encountered a content fan right here at home.

It turns out that my father, who usually goes to bed before 9 pm, texted me at 11 pm and said, “I’ve just completed it. I watched everything from start to finish today.

She went on to say, “It was truly heartwarming how engaged he seemed in the story.” Translating that enthusiasm, it feels like an outpouring of affection and backing from those who care for me. (Don’t forget to catch more on this topic tonight at 11 p.m. on TopMob News.)

Moreover, the 32-year-old considered themselves fortunate to collaborate with a group of exceptional, entertaining, generous, kindhearted, and loving actors, including Penn, Charlotte Ritchie, and Amy-Leigh Hickman.

Besides Madeline, many others also believe that Joe’s punishment – which included being shot in the genitalia and sentenced to life in prison – was fitting. Similarly, after playing the role of the serial killer Penn for five seasons, it seems he too felt content with his character’s outcome.

He shared with Entertainment Weekly during an interview on April 24th that everything feasible is being handled effectively. In his opinion, the character has reached its fitting conclusion. However, he acknowledged that no ending could please everyone completely, as true justice for a figure like Joe isn’t inherently satisfying.

After all, as the Gossip Girl alum put it, “He’s an abuser. He’s a killer. He’s a bad person.”

However, although some viewers might have preferred Joe’s death in the notorious glass cell where he confined and tortured numerous characters during the show, Penn believes that a life in prison represents a more fitting form of justice.

He noted that if we consider this scenario as genuine, involving a real person, a true account, and actual victims, the one remedy that can genuinely mend and fulfill is simply time, provided that justice has been upheld. In reference to Joe, he confirmed that justice has indeed been achieved.

Although Joe’s final “Hello, you” might echo in your mind, don’t worry! There’s a plethora of series ready to take over the serial-killer slot. Delve deeper to discover other shows you can catch this year.
