Phil Robertson’s family knew their time with him was coming to a close.
As Phil Robertson, the patriarch from the popular show “Duck Dynasty,” was nearing the end of his life at age 79, his daughter-in-law Korie Robertson revealed that his health had suddenly deteriorated.
Actually, Korie, who is married to Willie Robertson (Phil’s son), shared with The New York Post in the period before Phil’s passing that his health was deteriorating at an extremely fast pace. She found it incredibly difficult to see for the entire family as it was so tough to witness.
She continued, “He’s deeply cherished,” she noted. “In fact, everyone from the family has been rallying around him, providing him with exceptional care.
Previously, during the struggles with his father’s health, Jase Robertson had divulged something similar to what we heard later on.
During the April 2nd episode of the Unashamed with the Robertson Family podcast, a 55-year-old individual expressed, “We’re giving it our all,” and added, “That’s just how we operate.
On May 25th, Korie made a post on social media confirming that Phil had passed away, five months following the public announcement of his Alzheimer’s diagnosis.
Korie expressed gratitude for the time he spent on earth and plans to carry forward his legacy of loving God and others until they meet again, according to a Facebook post. She also acknowledged that many fans of the A&E series have been touched by his life. For now, they are holding a private service, but details about a public tribute to his life will be shared soon.
After his death, Phil’s granddaughter, Sadie Robertson (daughter of Korie and Willie), revealed more about the last moments she spent with her beloved grandfather.
According to the 27-year-old, Phil’s faith played a large role during the end of his life.
In Sadie’s May 25 tribute, she mentioned, following a quote from Corinthians, that Papaw Phil had previously lived through this – moving from death to life, all due to the power of Christ.
She continued, “One of the last things he said to me was ‘full strength ahead!’ Amen!”
Onward with all our might!

In 2020, Phil Robertson of the TV show “Duck Dynasty” learned that he had fathered a daughter named Phyllis as a result of a past relationship. This discovery led him to reunite with his long-lost daughter and introduce her to the family tradition of duck hunting.
In her Instagram post from November, Phyllis expressed gratitude for the way God had reunited them after such a long time. She believes that His timing was impeccable, and each passing day and fresh encounter is a precious gift.
Phyllis titled this January 2021 photo ‘The end of my first duck hunting season with an amazing hunt.’ One year ago today, she started a new chapter in her life – discovering the truth about her father through paternity tests. It turned out to be positive news indeed! Of course, there have been highs and lows on this unexpected journey, but as Romans 8:28 says, ‘In all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who are called according to His purpose.’ I’m incredibly grateful that today and this one-year anniversary bring nothing but positivity.
In 2021, Phil and his wife, Kay “Miss Kay” Robertson, extended an invitation to Phyllis and her spouse to join them in celebrating Easter with their family, which included Phil’s brother Si Robertson.
Phil taught Phyllis how to make mayhaw jelly in May 2021.
Phyllis celebrated her first Father’s Day with Phil in 2021.
She posted on Instagram, “My dad showed me how to prepare crawfish au gratin today. It was a delightful and unforgettable Father’s Day – the very first one we’ve celebrated together.
Phyllis celebrated Christmas 2021 with Phil, Miss Kay, along with their grown-up children Al Robertson, Jase Robertson, Willie Robertson, and Jep Robertson.
The Robertson family went duck hunting in November 2022.
2022-23 duck hunting season is officially over for Phyllis, stretching from northeast Louisiana to southeast Kansas. It was a delightful experience spending time with my dad, family, and friends. We engaged in deep conversations about faith, marveled at the beauty of nature, learned some new skills, helped raise funds for missions, and spread the Good News. Not only that, but we bagged and stored some ducks! All in all, it was a highly productive and enjoyable season.
In April 2023, Phil shared a heartfelt message on Instagram: “May your Easter be filled with joy as we commemorate the incredible resurrection, our faith in Jesus Christ, and the anticipation of what’s yet to unfold. We yearn for our journey to resonate with yours—that you too may discover light and hope in our risen Lord. Warmest Easter wishes from our family to yours!
