Heartstopper movie reveals first look with Kit Connor and Joe Locke as production begins

Exciting news for Heartstopper enthusiasts! The much-anticipated feature film of this heartwarming LGBTQ+ teen drama is now underway, as confirmed by Netflix, who posted a behind-the-scenes snapshot on set to celebrate the moment.

For a while after season 3 was released, the streaming service left fans in suspense as there was no quick announcement about renewing the show. This delay sparked worry and curiosity about the potential direction the series might take in the future.

Fortunately, we managed to find a solution, and it’s been confirmed that the Heartstopper movie will be streamed on Netflix starting in April. Production is currently underway on this highly anticipated production.

The narrative is based on the last Heartstopper graphic novels penned by author Alice Oseman. These works follow the journey of characters Charlie Spring (portrayed by Joe Locke) and Nick Nelson (played by Kit Connor) as they contemplate their future, with university and other post-school prospects arising in their lives.

Down below, the streamer posted a picture featuring Oseman along with two other cast members, all flashing smiles at the camera. While this image doesn’t reveal many details about the plot, fans are thrilled to learn that the production of the project is now progressing.

Ever since Heartstopper made its grand entrance and immediately soared to worldwide acclaim, I’ve found myself basking in the limelight alongside Connor and Locke. The series has been showered with admiration for its tender portrayal of subjects such as self-discovery, anxiety, intimate relationships, and struggles with eating disorders, leaving me feeling incredibly proud to be part of this groundbreaking production.

After securing their roles, both actors have landed notable sequel projects. Specifically, Locke is now part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the popular Disney+ series Agatha All Along, while Connor has contributed his voice to The Wild Robot and starred in Alex Garland’s movie titled Warfare.

Before the news of the Heartstopper movie broke out, Connor expressed to Vogue that he would agree to rejoin only if the story was handled appropriately and the essence of the tale was preserved. It seems he was content with the final screenplay that was ultimately chosen.

The main actors from the Heartstopper movie have yet to be unveiled in full, but it’s quite probable that series stars Yasmin Finney (playing Elle), William Gao (Tao), Corinna Brown (Tara), and Kizzy Edgell (Darcy) will rejoin their characters.
