Heartstopper star ‘in talks’ with Oscar-winning director for Elden Ring adaptation

Previously, it was revealed in May that Elden Ring would receive a movie adaptation by A24. Now, there are hints that director Alex Garland is discussing potential casting with some of his actors from the Warfare series for the upcoming film based on the popular video game.

As a devoted admirer, I’ve heard whispers that the charismatic Kit Connor, who stole our hearts in Heartstopper, may be having discussions with filmmaker Garland regarding the Elden Ring movie. However, it remains unclear if an official proposal has been extended to him so far.

As reported by Deadline, sources indicate that there are a few details – such as scheduling – that require resolution. However, it appears that both Garland and Connor are keen on the event taking place.

Together, the duo worked on a project titled “Warfare,” a movie that Garland jointly directed with ex-US Navy SEAL Ray Mendoza. The cast featured Connor along with several well-known actors such as Will Poulter, Cosmo Jarvis, and Joseph Quinn.

Acclaimed for his contributions to movies such as Captain America: Civil War, 28 Days Later, and Ex Machina, Garland has a history of collaboration with production company A24. This company is teaming up with Elden Ring’s publisher, Bandai Namco, to bring us the film.

When it was announced that Elden Ring would become a movie, a joint statement was made stating that filmmaker Alex Garland would oversee both writing and directing duties, with the aim of capturing the grandiose setting and high-octane action of the Elden Ring universe on screen.

The movie is being co-produced by Peter Rice, along with Andrew Macdonald and Allon Reich from DNA, as well as George R.R. Martin and Vince Gerardis.

Most people would likely identify Martin as the writer behind the Song of Ice and Fire book series, famously transformed into the critically acclaimed HBO show, Game of Thrones.

Apart from that, it’s worth mentioning that Martin has collaborated with Hidetaka Miyazaki from FromSoftware on the initial narrative for Elden Ring as well.

Without a doubt, it’s accurate to assert that the debut version of Elden Ring, launched in 2022, has consistently thrived and grown in popularity since then. Now, it’s widely recognized as one of the most beloved games from the last ten years.

As a gamer eagerly anticipating Elden Ring, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and trepidation. The vast narrative it promises is sure to test even the most skilled storytellers, and as of now, there’s no hint about where the plot might lead or who the characters could be. All we can do is wait with bated breath, hoping that this action-packed role-playing game will live up to its cinematic potential when it finally unfurls on our screens.

Regarding Connor possibly appearing in the movie, only time will tell whether the rumors prove true. Meanwhile, numerous enthusiasts eagerly anticipate updates about a possible fourth season of Heartstopper, where Connor shares the screen with Joe Locke as the main characters.

Previously, the actor mentioned that the Heartstopper crew has projects in development. However, he would prefer to participate only if everything is handled appropriately.

In conversation with Vogue, Connor expressed his interest by saying: “As long as it’s executed properly, I’d be on board. My primary concern is preserving its essence; ensuring it remains genuine.

As a passionate enthusiast, I’m involved in an exciting project, and I’m hopeful that we can bring it to life. However, the journey is still unfolding, so nothing is set in stone yet. I must stress, there are no guarantees. If at any point it feels wrong or doesn’t align with my values, I won’t proceed.
