The Incredible Hulk from Marvel is arguably one of the scariest and strongest beings in the universe, with an endless reservoir of anger fueling his immense power. Each incarnation of the Hulk has unique abilities that make them intimidating on their own terms, like Red Hulk’s intense heat or Red She-Hulk’s chimera shape. However, Marvel’s latest addition to the Hulk family surpasses all others in terms of terror. In ‘Hellverine’ volume two, readers are introduced to a new Hulk that makes even the peaceful versions of the character seem tame. This newcomer is none other than Hell Hulk, a being whose presence triggers an uncontrollable rage in everyone within a certain radius, causing them to destroy themselves and those around them with just one finger.
How We Discovered the Hell Hulk
In the comic series “Hellverine”, a character known as Hell Hulk made its debut, focusing on the story of the demon Bagra-Ghul. Previously, Bagra-Ghul had bonded with Wolverine in the initial volume of the comic, altering the demon forever. Once Wolverine broke free from this bond, Bagra-Ghul searched for a new host. This search led it to Akihiro, who had recently passed away. Bagra-Ghul resurrected Akihiro’s body to reclaim the Hellverine form, but Akihiro eventually regained control, giving him the ability to decide when to release the demon’s power.
Following his successful confrontation against a devilish counterpart akin to Marvel’s Mephisto who aimed to control all mutants globally, Akihiro was enlisted by the United States’ secretive Project Hellfire – a unit dedicated to managing otherworldly perils and armaments from the depths of Hell. Dr. Spivey, their leader, sought Akihiro’s expertise to assist them in locating a fresh, menacing demonic entity, the Hell Hulk. In issue #6, Hellverine was escorted to their facility, where he encountered Severith, a half-demon colleague who likewise served under them. They were dispatched together to probe suspected Hell Hulk activities and rode on Akihiro’s newly customized motorcycle equipped with hellfire accelerators.
Akihiro and Severith arrived at an emerging neighborhood near Atlanta, which had been marred by a tragic incident within a family, resulting in everyone – parents, children, even pets – perishing. Upon their arrival, Akihiro sensed a dark presence emanating from the house, leading him to discover a crimson finger buried beneath the basement’s concrete floor. They then retreated to their base, where Akihiro observed that Hell Hulk had been dismantled into countless fragments, each one exuding an enraging aura that affected non-demonic beings. Project Hellfire was in the process of piecing Hell Hulk back together to better understand its mechanism. Interestingly, it was discovered that the prevailing theory regarding Hell Hulk’s origin involved Bagra-Ghul creating fragments of Red Hulk as a tribute or weapon meant for Mephisto.
As Akihiro was still wrapping his mind around the recent revelation, another alarming report arrived: passengers on a cruise ship were brutally killing each other without discrimination. Suddenly, Hellverine burst onto the scene, triggering a much more intense alert on Akihiro’s supernatural senses. With no time to waste, he plunged into Lake Michigan and discovered the severed head of Hell Hulk staring menacingly at him from below the surface. Clearly, things had just taken a drastic turn for the worse.
Hell Hulk is Demonically Terrifying
As a movie enthusiast, I find myself shuddering at the mere mention of Hell Hulk. Just his name suggests he’s got some serious strength that could rival the original Hulk – not exactly something you’d want in a demon. But it’s not just about raw power; this entity has the uncanny ability to drive even the most level-headed individuals into a homicidal frenzy, provided they aren’t part demon themselves.
Remember that lake we all love for its tranquility, Lake Michigan? Well, the head of this monster was discovered at its bottom, which happens to be approximately 922 feet deep. This means his influence potentially reaches out about a thousand feet from just his head. We can only imagine how devastating it would be if the full body were to manifest. Scary stuff indeed!
Among all Hulks, this one now stands as the one I’d least like to encounter, a testament to its formidable status given that my list is already packed with Hulks. This particular Hulk triggers rage at Hulk levels in others, which could potentially make it the deadliest Hulk yet, surpassing even the One Below All (with exceptions). As Hellverine prepares for a reboot of an iconic Marvel Comics fight, it’s clear that this battle will bring nothing but chaos and destruction to Earth, ensuring a horrific experience for all who witness it.
