HELL is US Developer Details Investigations in New Gameplay, Teases “Countless Mysteries”

At the latest Nacon Connect event, Rogue Factor provided a fresh perspective on the concept of “Hell is Us” by highlighting their Investigation mechanic. This semi-open world action-adventure game eschews traditional quest markers and logs for a more authentic exploration experience, allowing players to discover the game world organically. Take a look at it below.

As I, a dedicated gamer, embark on this immersive journey, I find myself in the shoes of Rémi, a peacekeeper turned renegade, driven to abandon his duties and venture back to Hadea in search of my long-lost parents. The world I’ve entered is torn apart by civil war, but it’s not just human conflict that plagues Hadea – there are strange beings known as the Hollow Walkers to contend with too.

With scant information at my disposal initially, I must rely on interactions with non-player characters (NPCs), careful observation, and keen deduction skills to unravel the path that lies ahead. The mystery of my parents’ whereabouts is a complex one, but by piecing together clues and deciphering the puzzle, I hope to find the answers I seek.

For instance, consider the case where someone is familiar with Jova, a town in which Rémi’s father plied his blacksmith trade. Upon arriving, he could engage an orphan named Rebecca and discover that his father might have departed aboard an Organized Nations (ON) transport. This journey seems to be heading towards sites of old historical landmarks.

Additionally, players have the option to delve into supplementary mysteries and uncover secret locations that don’t directly tie into the primary narrative. The creative director, Jonathan Jacques-Belletête, hints at a multitude of enigmas waiting to be unraveled, with straightforward and self-explanatory methods for their resolution.
