According to Mike Mignola, the comic “Hellboy: The Crooked Man” offers a portrayal that closely mirrors the original character, immersing readers in the eerie, Americana atmosphere that is characteristic of the source material.

“[What I enjoyed most about it] was how accurately it mirrored the comics. The film contained numerous shots that were directly from the comics, which often leaves one apprehensive, especially when you’re discussing your favorite storyline. However, all my cherished moments from the comic book are depicted in this. As I watched, I held my breath, wondering if these scenes would remain intact during the editing process. Remarkably, I was able to witness some of it, though I didn’t physically visit the set. Instead, I saw daily footage, and my thoughts were consistently, ‘I can’t believe this! Oh my goodness, they’ve managed to include it and I hope it stays in the final cut!'”

Mignola expressed his appreciation for a specific scene in the church, saying, “I wondered if they would enhance that moment with special effects?” It was a simple, peaceful scene that could have been easily discarded, but it remained throughout. Mignola continued, “I’ve enjoyed other movies and appreciated parts from those, but this time was different. I felt grateful because finally, someone truly wanted to include [my comic] on screen, as unlike others who might say ‘Yes, we’ll adapt your comic,’ this is the instance when it actually happened.”

In the movie titled “Hellboy: The Crooked Man,” Jack Kesy assumes the leading role. Alongside him are Jefferson White, Adeline Rudolph, Joseph Marcell, Leah McNamara, Hannah Margetson, and Martin Bassindale. This film is produced by Millennium Films, with distribution handled by Ketchup Entertainment. The script for “Hellboy: The Crooked Man” was co-written by Bryan Taylor, Mignola, and Christopher Golden.
