As a long-time fan of Helldivers 2, I can’t help but feel a profound sense of pride and joy seeing the game take home four trophies at The Golden Joystick Awards. It’s not every day that a game you’ve grown to love and admire receives such high recognition from both critics and fans alike.
Arrowhead’s Helldivers 2 picked up four trophies at The Golden Joystick Awards last month.
2024’s popular viral hit claimed victory in fan-selected categories like Best Multiplayer Game, Best Game Trailer, and Console Game of the Year. Additionally, it received the prestigious Critics’ Choice Award.
After winning the Best Multiplayer award at The Golden Joysticks, Helldivers 2’s production director, Alex Bolle, had a conversation with TopMob Gaming backstage.

On winning the award, Bolle said, “It’s amazing. Yeah, I’m speechless.
This is truly a captivating instant. I believe it’s solidifying the fruits of all those years of growth. It’s solidifying the experiences of this year, particularly for the game.
He remarked: “Interacting with the players has been fantastic. Every day, I find myself really enjoying our activities together; it’s something truly significant for us.
Given that the award was determined through a community vote, how significant is it that a large number of Helldivers supporters participated to express their backing?
Absolutely, you’ve hit the nail on the head. I am truly impressed by this significant surge in performance from the players, and I can’t help but express my gratitude for it. It’s simply astounding!
And would Bolle have a message for the fans? “So many,” he said.
“The message he took along was this: ‘Fellows, appreciate it. You’ve acted for the sake of Super Earth, you’ve acted for democracy.’
“There’s a lot to come. We are hearing you. We want to work with you. We love you.”
