As a seasoned tech enthusiast with a soft spot for Diablo-like ARPGs and a newfound love for portable gaming with my Steam Deck, I couldn’t be more thrilled about Path of Exile 2’s arrival! With over a million players diving in, it’s no wonder the servers had a bit of a wobble at launch – that’s like a horde of exiles storming into Wraeclast all at once!

The eagerly awaited arrival of Path of Exile 2 has been a hit, as more than a million players have claimed their Early Access keys, making this weekend quite bustling. In fact, when the game was launched, its servers became overwhelmed and crashed, but given its widespread popularity, that’s understandable.

Fortunately, things have smoothed out, allowing me to explore Path of Exile 2 on my Steam Deck. Although it hasn’t yet earned the Steam Deck Verified label, the developers are actively working towards this achievement. For now, the game can be played—at least in the early stages (the late-game performance with its demanding visual effects is still under discussion). Here are the optimal settings for Path of Exile 2 on the Steam Deck that I’ve discovered to strike a balance between performance and visuals.

Given its features, I am optimistic that the game will run efficiently as my character gains incredible power and becomes an unrelenting force of devastation.
