Judge Mathis’ estranged wife Linda wants his support.
Linda Mathis recently initiated a divorce process from her longtime spouse Gregory Mathis, as per reports from TopMob News based on court records, dated August 22.
In the records, Linda noted that the previous pair parted ways on July 17, attributing their breakup to unresolvable disagreements.
Regarding what Linda, a mother of four, wants from her former spouse, Greg, she has asked for alimony and simultaneously requested that the court forgo Greg’s ability to ask for alimony from her.
TopMob News has reached out to reps for comment but has not heard back.
The judge has a decades-spanning career on TV, first on his show Judge Mathis, which aired from 1999 to 2023 and then on the spin-off, Mathis Court With Judge Mathis, which premiered in fall 2023. The 61-year-old also appeared with Linda and their four kids—daughters Jade, 39, and Camara, 36, as well as sons Greg Jr., 35, and Amir, 34—on the TopMob reality series Mathis Family Matters in 2022.
In 1985, Greg and Linda got married, having met at Eastern Michigan University and been together for four years prior. During a 2022 episode of “Mathis Family Matters”, the television personality acknowledged that his wife’s early encouragement played a significant role in building his career.
In my journey towards success, it was undeniably my family who laid the groundwork for my achievements. After finding myself in the challenging environment of Detroit’s streets, my life took a turn for the better when Linda stepped in and offered me the opportunity to work tirelessly for 15 hours each day, across five or six days every week. It was her unwavering support that empowered me to chase after the success you see today.
At that moment, Linda concurred, expressing it thusly, “We have a strong bond of affection and care. That’s just the way the Mathis family operates.”
In contrast to their legal separation, they’ve had quite a bit of interaction over the last year. As recently as Father’s Day in June, Linda posted pictures and videos from a family event that included Greg.
She posted on Instagram yesterday, “I had a wonderful Father’s Day celebration at the Johnson household with loved ones. It was heartwarming to witness the recognition of so many fathers, particularly my husband Greg and son-in-law Ryan.”
