As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I must say that the introduction of ranked play in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is a game-changer for me and countless others who crave a more competitive experience. The thought of earning operator skins as I climb through the ranks is incredibly enticing, and the prospect of reaching the top 250 players and securing that special operator skin has me itching to get my hands on that controller.
For those seriously invested in Call of Duty, the ranked mode offers a platform to truly showcase your gaming prowess against top-tier opponents. Unlike casual modes like camo grinding or boosting KD ratio, this mode emphasizes genuine competition. Your progress here is largely determined by victories, so advancing in the rankings necessitates collaboration with teammates.
Additionally, it adopts the very same competitive rulebook as the Call of Duty League does when playing multiplayer. This entails deciding upon map and game mode vetoes through a voting process.
In just a short while, competitive gameplay will be available in Black Ops 6! Here’s the schedule for when you can join and a rundown of the prizes up for grabs for your participation.
When does ranked play go live in Black Ops 6?
Play ranked mode is set to begin this coming Thursday, November 21, and if the current timeline holds, we can expect it to start at approximately 10 a.m. Pacific Time (or around 6 p.m. Greenwich Mean Time).
Even though Warzone was initially launched ahead of schedule, things might still alter. When it becomes operational, you’ll be able to access it independently from the primary menu screen, distinct from the usual multiplayer mode.
Requirements to join the ranked play mode in Black Ops 6
Before starting your ranked play journey, it’s essential that everyone meets a certain level of proficiency first. This can be achieved by having sufficient experience in multiplayer games.
As a devoted player, I can tell you that to join the ranked matches, you need to secure 50 victories in multiplayer battles first. It’s not an overwhelming figure, but if you’re just starting out or haven’t played much up until now, it will undoubtedly take some time and effort to achieve this milestone. However, for those of us who have been battling it out since the game’s launch, even the least skilled among us (like myself) should be able to meet this requirement with persistence and patience.
To find out how many victories you’ve accumulated, simply navigate to your Combat Record located within the Barracks section. If you haven’t reached 50 wins yet, keep in mind that leaving a game before it ends is considered a loss, regardless of the final team outcome. So hang in there, as unexpected wins can sometimes come up at the last moment.
Black Ops 6 ranked play progression and rewards
Progressing through various levels in competitive play will grant you access to the operator skins displayed in the gallery above as a reward for your advancement.
- Bronze
- Silver
- Gold
- Platinum
- Diamond
- Crimson
- Iridescent
- Top 250
Advancement across the different levels is determined by a measure known as Skill Rating (SR). According to Activision, this rating reflects the player’s skill level.
Advance in the Ranks by accumulating Score Points (SR) from victories in Ranked Matches. The score points are granted following each win, with the quantity depending on how close you are to your predicted Rank, your match performance, and the difference in scores between you and your opponent. You also lose SR after a defeat.
So unlike the regular XP grind in multiplayer, to progress in ranked, you need to win games.
At the conclusion of the ranked season, a unique operator skin will be given to the leading player on the leaderboard. One can only wish that this prize goes to an honest and deserving individual rather than someone who might be found cheating.
At the conclusion of the season, players who find themselves in the Bronze or Silver tiers won’t experience any rollback and can carry on from where they left. However, those in the Gold and Platinum ranks will be moved back to the entry level within each category, while players at Diamond level and above will be returned to the initial stage of Diamond.
When does ranked play arrive in Warzone?
Black Ops 6, known as Warzone, is set to include a competitive mode called Ranked Play. However, this feature will not be released simultaneously with Ranked Play in multiplayer mode.
The timeline for Warzone extends until December 5, but there’s no hint of ranked play in sight. However, it’s been suggested that we’ll get our first glimpse of details related to Season 1 Reloaded, which might include information about ranked play, around early December.
In simple terms, it seems that the update for Warzone, labeled as Ranked, is currently anticipated to roll out during the middle of the season. This is typically when the revitalized Reloaded content would be released.
