Here's when you can play the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 free trial week and the game modes you can try

As a seasoned gamer with a wallet that seems to be perpetually light, I must say the news of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s free trial week has brought a ray of hope into my digital life. It’s not every day that I get to play a AAA title without dipping into my savings or selling a kidney (okay, no kidneys yet).

As an ardent fan, I can’t help but marvel at the staggering success of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, breaking all records as the largest launch in the series so far! A significant factor contributing to this triumph is its day-one release on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. However, it’s important to note that even with Game Pass, there’s a cost involved if you want to dive into the gameplay experience.

Beginning from now, developers Treyarch have declared a one-week free trial period for Black Ops 6 across all platforms. Regardless if you’re using PC, Xbox, or PlayStation, you can download the game without any charges and play it in its entirety, with no strings attached, during that week.

Here’s when you can play, and the game modes you can try out.

When is the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 free trial week?

Starting this coming Friday, December 13, you can enjoy a free trial of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, which will continue until the following Friday, December 20.

Currently, there’s no set date confirmed for when Treyarch will launch the free trial, but it’s been announced that you can download and start playing Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 on December 13 without any prior commitment. You’ll have a whole week, up until December 20, to enjoy this game at your leisure.

Starting on December 13th, there will be a double XP event for levels, weapons, and battle passes, as well as a double Gobblegums event. Even free trial players can earn these rewards, making it slightly easier to unlock weapons and attachments. Typically, these events start around 1 p.m. Eastern (6 p.m. GMT), but they might begin earlier or later.

Which game modes can you play in the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 free trial week?

In the free trial version of the game, while a significant portion will be accessible, some sections such as the campaign and the most recent Zombies map, “Citadelle des Morts,” will not be included. The multiplayer mode is provided, but it’s limited in scope, and Ranked Play won’t be an option during the trial period.

What you won’t find during your free trial week is the top-notch campaign, and given that multiplayer campaigns are usually considered premium content, this isn’t really surprising. Another noticeable absence is the new Zombies map, known as Citadelle des Morts.

As a tech enthusiast, I can confirm that the entire Zombies content remains intact, offering both traditional gameplay and Directed Mode across Liberty Falls and Terminus.

As a researcher delving into this project, while multiplayer is undoubtedly at the forefront, it’s essential to emphasize that it’s merely one aspect of the complete experience. Regrettably, ranked play and certain maps and modes are not included in the initial phase. However, here’s what we can confirm will be part of the trial.

Maps:

  • Nuketown Holiday
  • Racket (Face Off map)
  • Hacienda
  • Hideout
  • Extraction
  • Heirloom (Face Off map)

Modes:

  • Team Deathmatch
  • Kill Confirmed
  • Hardpoint
  • Domination
  • Kill Order
  • Prop Hunt

In essence, it encompasses the primary game modes that many players usually opt for, plus it includes all the latest map additions the game has seen.

In this new game mode called Prop Hunt, things are quite distinct from the usual. If you haven’t given it a try yet, I strongly recommend it. Instead of chasing down enemies in the traditional shoot-em-up style, the opponents in this game will be disguised as props scattered across the map. These props could range from something as subtle as a chair to something as unexpected as a car inside a bedroom! It’s all part of the fun and laughter!

If you’re undecided about whether Black Ops 6 suits your gaming taste, this could be the perfect moment to dive in and explore it!
