Hideki Kamiya Wants to Remake the Original Devil May Cry, Would Make Design Changes

Hideki Kamiya, the original Devil May Cry‘s director, has shown enthusiasm about re-creating the game, and this potential project would extend beyond mere visual enhancements.

In a question-and-answer session on his YouTube channel, Kamiya was queried regarding a potential remake of the game and possible enhancements he would implement.

“Of course I’d love to do that,” he says, reminiscing about the 2001 action game.

Every now and then, I capture gameplay snippets and find myself nodding, thinking, “Wow, this truly harks back to the era of 24-year-old game design.

Speaking about current technological advancements and game development strategies, Kamiya expresses his desire for a complete overhaul rather than merely updating the graphics.

According to him, if the project is seriously implemented, he promises to create a solution for it and encourages Capcom to entrust him with the task.

As an aside, he also asks the publisher to let him tackle a remake of Viewtiful Joe.

Recently, whispers of a DMC1 remake surfaced after Daniel Southworth, the voice actor for Vergil, hinted at a project requiring him to reprise his young Vergil character’s voice. Whether this has any validity is uncertain, but it’s clear that there’s an appetite among fans to resurrect the game.
