Hideki Kamiya Would “Love” to Remake Devil May Cry

The renowned creator behind games like Devil May Cry, Bayonetta, and Viewtiful Joe, Hideki Kamiya, has returned to Capcom after a nearly 20-year absence. While he’s currently dedicated to the sequel of Okami, there’s a strong possibility that he might revisit one of his classic creations in the future.

In a video posted on his YouTube channel, Kamiya expressed his enthusiasm about potentially working on a remake of the 2001’s “Devil May Cry”. He feels that the game’s design seems outdated and believes that with today’s technology, if given the opportunity, he would prefer to create a new version of the game completely from scratch.

Regarding a possible remake of “Devil May Cry,” he expressed enthusiasm, saying something along the lines of, “Absolutely, it would be great to work on that!” He typically doesn’t revisit his own games post-release, and “Devil May Cry” is no exception. However, from time to time, he encounters gameplay clips and thinks, “Yes, this definitely has the feel of a 24-year-old game design.

Given current technological advancements and game development methods, I’d certainly consider a complete remake if the opportunity arises. However, until it becomes a reality, I haven’t given it much thought. If the situation changes, I’ll be ready to propose new ideas. That’s just how I work!

At present, as far as we’re aware, there are no plans for a Devil May Cry remake; however, considering Capcom’s history of creating remakes and Hideaki Kamiya’s apparent involvement, it’s not entirely implausible to speculate about its possibility. One can only cross their fingers in hope.
