Hideo Kojima Shares Surprising Update on Physint, the Metal Gear Solid Spiritual Successor

As a long-time follower of Hideo Kojima’s groundbreaking work, I must say that this latest update on “Physint” has left me utterly captivated. Having witnessed the meticulous attention to detail and innovative storytelling in games like Metal Gear Solid and Death Stranding, it’s heartening to know that Kojima is already setting the stage for his next masterpiece.

Casting for “Physint” may have been halted due to the SAG strike this year, but I’m confident that Kojima will manage to secure an impressive roster of talent for the project. Given his history of working with Hollywood stars, it wouldn’t be a stretch to imagine him starting the casting process early to accommodate busy schedules.

The wait for a new trailer or teaser might seem endless, but as someone who has patiently anticipated each new release from Kojima Productions, I’m more than willing to bide my time. With “Death Stranding 2” slated for release in 2025, the next few years will be an exciting journey filled with anticipation and intrigue.

On a lighter note, I can’t help but wonder if Kojima is secretly orchestrating some grand cosmic dance that involves the timing of his game releases and Hollywood blockbusters. Perhaps one day we’ll find out that he’s been casting for “Physint” by subtly inserting easter eggs into Marvel movies all this time! Only time will tell, but until then, I’m eagerly awaiting each new morsel of information from the master storyteller himself.

2024 is drawing to a close, and Hideo Kojima has recently disclosed some intriguing updates about the upcoming game titled Physint, which serves as the spiritual successor to Metal Gear Solid. Earlier in the year, Kojima announced his plans to revisit the stealth-action genre with Physint through a partnership with PlayStation. Although this development sparked enthusiasm among many fans, it was also made clear that Physint would be Kojima’s main focus only after he completed releasing Death Stranding 2: On the Beach and OD, a horror game being developed with Xbox. Given this, it appeared that we would have to wait for quite some time before Physint gained more of Kojima’s attention. However, it has now been revealed that the game received significant focus from Kojima this year. Although it still seems likely that it will take some time before Physint becomes a major priority for Kojima, recent developments suggest otherwise.

In a recent communication with X, Kojima offered an update on his current projects, particularly Death Stranding 2 and Physint. Although Death Stranding 2 was the primary focus of his message, he briefly mentioned Physint as well. He revealed that casting for Physint began earlier this year, but came to a halt due to the SAG strike. Consequently, the casting process for Physint is still ongoing, with Kojima planning to resume it next year.

During the latter part of the year, both scanning and filming processes were halted because of the SAG strike. Similarly, casting for Physint was put on hold due to the same reason,” Kojima explained. “We anticipate resuming these activities next year. […] We appreciate your support throughout this year. Wishing you a wonderful New Year!

In essence, it’s quite unexpected to learn that the team behind Physint is currently planning to gather its cast. Since the game isn’t expected to hit the market until at least 2030, or possibly later, one might think it’s too soon to secure actors and actresses for a project that, as of now, only exists conceptually. However, considering Hideo Kojima’s history of collaborating with A-list Hollywood talent, he may be initiating the casting process for Physint earlier than usual to accommodate the stars’ demanding schedules.

Independent of what’s happening with Physint at this time, it’s safe to anticipate that the game won’t get a new trailer or teaser for quite some time, perhaps even several years. Meanwhile, Death Stranding 2 is scheduled to come out on PS5 in 2025.
