Hideo Kojima Talks About Doing “Everything” In-House During Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain’s Development

As a seasoned gamer with decades of gaming experience under my belt, I can truly appreciate the dedication and passion Hideo Kojima brings to his work. His tweets about the development of Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain are a testament to his commitment to every aspect of game creation, from concepts and layouts to promotional videos and merchandise. It’s rare to find such an all-encompassing approach in the gaming industry today.

Celebrating the 9th anniversary of Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain’s release this September, none other than game director Hideo Kojima has been sharing fascinating insights about the game’s creation on Twitter. As spotted by GamesRadar, in his latest tweets, Kojima reminisced about brainstorming ideas, sketching designs, and editing promotional materials for the game – a behind-the-scenes look at the incredible work that went into crafting this masterpiece

In Kojima’s own words: “I am responsible for both editing and creating the promotional videos, including trailers, key visuals, packaging, and more. I handle concepts, layouts, reviews, and even worked closely with Kyle on the MGSV logo. I don’t rely on external agencies like PR companies; instead, I work independently in-house. To me, the ‘game’ I develop encompasses much more than just the game itself – it includes every aspect of it. That’s my unique approach.”

Later on, Kojima also posted about it, mentioning that the creation of Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain was a significant aspect of his responsibilities, encompassing not just the majority, but also much of the associated merchandise

Currently, Konami is developing a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, which they have named Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. Here are 10 exciting updates we’ve uncovered regarding this upcoming remake
