The anime streaming platform HIDIVE has revealed a stunning new trailer for their upcoming exclusive series, titled “Sword of the Demon Hunter Kijin Gentosho“. Originally slated for release in June, production problems caused a delay. However, we’re thrilled to announce that the series is almost ready for its grand unveiling before it officially premieres on March 31st!
HIDIVE is steadily growing its impressive collection of streaming content. Although it may not have the same high-profile series as Crunchyroll or Netflix at this point, it has already secured popular titles such as “Food Wars,” the “Danmachi” series, “My Love Story,” and numerous other slice-of-life, romance, and ecchi shows. So far, “Sword of the Demon Hunter” appears to be HIDIVE’s most action-packed original production.
Sword of the Demon Hunter Teases Supernatural Samurai Action
In the second preview for “Sword of the Demon Hunter”, battles reminiscent of legendary samurai films from Japan’s cinematic golden era are teased. The impact of filmmakers like Akira Kurosawa, Masaki Kobayashi, and Hiroshi Inagaki can be seen throughout the trailer, evident in both the design of characters and brief glimpses of the action sequences. Furthermore, classic tales such as “Lone Wolf & Cub” seem to have played a role in shaping the anime’s narrative, though it introduces a mystical element that alters the timeline.
Titled “Sword of the Demon Hunter“, this story unfolds during the Edo period, following Jinta and his sister who were compelled to leave their home due to the presence of demons. In due course, Jinta matures into a proficient swordsman, devoting himself to guarding the village shrine’s priestess. Tasked with eliminating a demon that endangers the shrine, Jinta encounters the menacing entity within a forest, but is stunned to uncover a startling revelation. The demon discloses incidents 170 years in the future, where Jinta must confront this same demon once more, in the future. This sets off an extraordinary fantasy adventure that traverses various epochs as Jinta pursues the demon across time, ultimately grappling with his own hidden darkness.
