As a long-time gaming enthusiast who has witnessed the evolution of animated adaptations from the sidelines, I can confidently say that the upcoming series based on High on Life is shaping up to be an absolute game-changer! With J.B. Smoove, a man whose comedic talents have graced our screens for years, at the helm, this project promises to deliver a cosmic rollercoaster ride of laughter and excitement that will leave audiences begging for more.
A cartoon show derived from the video game “High on Life” is currently being developed, with J.B. Smoove slated as both producer and potential star. As reported by Deadline, an official confirmation regarding his acting role is yet to come. The project is a joint effort between Smoove’s Alternate Side Productions, Squanch Games (the game’s developer), and Striker Entertainment. Given Smoove’s previous experience as the voice actor for character Gus in “High on Life”, he appears to be an excellent fit for this animated series. In conversation with Deadline, Smoove shared his past connection with the game and expressed his excitement about the adaptation.
As a die-hard fan of my own talents, I was thrilled when Squanch Games approached me about voicing a character in their groundbreaking video game, High on Life. My initial curiosity was piqued by the question of what my character would look like – little did I know that I’d be embodying a fish with a knack for self-defense! As a Vegan, it seems only fitting that a fish should have the means to protect itself from harm, don’t you agree?
Currently, specifics about the upcoming animated series titled “High on Life” are scarce. The realm of video game adaptations is experiencing a significant revival at present, as production companies are increasingly interested in transforming games into other media. Notable franchises like Mario, Sonic, and The Last of Us have garnered substantial attention, but studios are also considering indie games such as “Vampire Survivors” and “Among Us“. Given this flurry of activity in adapting various games for film and television, it’s no wonder that “High on Life” is receiving similar consideration.
If you haven’t encountered “High on Life” before, let me fill you in. This game was launched in 2022, initially available for PC and Xbox systems, with subsequent releases for PS4 and PS5. The plot revolves around an alien invasion of Earth, where the invaders aim to transform humans into drugs. Yet, the game’s main characters can form alliances with a race known as Gatlians – these are weapons that can talk! One such character is Gus, voiced by Smoove, who happens to be one of these talking weapons. It will certainly be intriguing to see if he continues in this role in the series!
