High School DxD Delivers One of Anime's Wildest Cameos of 2024

As a long-time fan of both High School DxD and VTuber culture, I was absolutely thrilled to witness the unexpected crossover between these two worlds in the latest episode of VTuber Legend. Having followed High School DxD since its initial release back in 2012, I’ve grown attached to the characters, particularly Rias Gremory, and have eagerly awaited a return to their world ever since the release of the fourth season, Hero, in 2018.

High School DxD, which had been absent from screens since the completion of its fourth season, “High School DxD Hero”, in 2018, surprised fans by making an unexpected appearance in a new anime this summer. The prolonged absence of the series left many eager for more of Rias Gremory’s adventures, and the recent cameo serves as a reminder that there remains significant interest in the anime despite its long hiatus.

In episode 4 of “VTuber Legend: How I Went Viral After Forgetting to Turn Off My Stream,” the popular character Rias Gremory from “High School DxD” made an unexpected appearance. This anime adaptation of Nana Nanato and Siokazunoko’s light novel series has been a notable addition to the Summer 2024 anime lineup due to its outrageous main character. In this episode, Awayuki Kokorone is seen watching various VTuber streams, and one happens to be playing a genuine game of Schwarz. Rias Gremory then makes a shocking entrance in this game, complete with an animated attack. Witness it for yourself in the clip Crunchyroll has kindly shared:

What Is High School DxD?

In an intriguing blend of worlds, it turns out that the studios behind “High School DxD” and “VTuber Legend: How I Went Viral After Forgetting to Turn Off My Stream” have an unexpected connection. The initial three seasons of “High School DxD,” which were animated by studio TNK, share production history with the current creation of “VTuber Legend.” However, starting from its fourth season, “High School DxD Hero,” the anime’s production shifted to Passione, and since then, it has been on hiatus without any clear indication of returning.

If you’re interested in watching “High School DxD,” you now have the opportunity to stream all four seasons on Crunchyroll. Here’s a simplified description: The anime portrays a battle between heaven and hell taking place on Earth. Meanwhile, Issei is dealing with more than just the supernatural – his hormones are also in an uproar. Enter Rias, the president of The Occult Research Club, who is not only a Devil but also leads a group that isn’t actually researching the occult – they are the occult themselves.

¡Hola amigos! I’ve been following anime and virtual YouTubers for quite some time now, and let me tell you, the upcoming series VTuber Legend is something I just can’t wait to sink my teeth into this Summer. From what I’ve seen in the teasers, Yuki Tanaka is a VTuber at Live-On, one of Japan’s biggest VTuber companies, and she plays the role of Awayuki Kokorone – a polite and refined character that has captured the hearts of viewers worldwide.
