The anticipation of diving into the chilling world of Yellowjackets on Netflix is palpable, yet the realization that only the first season will be available leaves me longing for more.
One of the most gripping thriller shows currently on television is set to arrive on Netflix. Originally airing on Showtime, Yellowjackets, which captivated TV viewers when it debuted a few years back, follows the tale of a band of teenage girls who find themselves stranded in the wilderness following a plane crash. As their past decisions come back to haunt them twenty years later, the series has been highly acclaimed during its first two seasons and awaits the release of its third. Unfortunately, it won’t have the chance to expand its fanbase even further on Netflix.
On Sunday, September 1st, it was revealed that Yellowjackets would be joining Netflix’s streaming library in the United States a month later. From October 1st, subscribers will have the opportunity to stream the first season of Yellowjackets, aiming to match or exceed the recent popularity of Showtime’s Your Honor, which had spent several weeks as one of Netflix’s top-watched shows.
Yellowjackets weaves its intricate narrative across two time periods. The first chronicles a high school girls’ soccer team who, after their plane crashes in the vast Canadian wilderness, must survive for nearly two years. Fast forward to the present day, and the second timeline follows these survivors as they grapple with the repercussions of their past experiences – decisions made during those harrowing months in the woods have come back to haunt them.
Just a heads up, only the initial season of “Yellowjackets” will be joining Netflix in the upcoming month. If you’re hooked and eager to follow the narrative further, you’ll need a subscription to Paramount+ to stream Season 2.
