As a seasoned gamer who has donned countless VR headsets and navigated through virtual landscapes, I must say that the delay of IO Interactive’s Hitman World of Assassination for PlayStation VR2 is a bittersweet pill to swallow. On one hand, I understand the need for developers to deliver polished experiences that meet our lofty expectations; on the other, my anticipation for the immersive world of Hitman in VR has been building since the initial announcement.
IO Interactive’s “Hitman World of Assassination” for PlayStation VR2 has been moved from its planned release this December to March 27th, 2025. The developer shared in a recent blog post that this change didn’t come easily.
We’re thrilled that there’s been so much interest in bringing Hitman to PS VR2, and we were delighted by the positive response after the announcement. With this in mind, our top focus is always providing an exceptional experience that lives up to the high expectations of our players. While we’re taking extra time to refine things, it also gives us a chance to add new features such as active reloading.
In this virtual reality game, players will have enhanced reloading control for a heightened realism experience. Instead of automatically reloading, they’ll need to simulate the action of swapping clips in their guns manually. Additionally, it has been verified that positional interactions are not limited to basic actions like turning on a TV or poisoning drinks; they also apply to quest items. Prepare yourself for tasks such as swiping keycards and turning door locks. Furthermore, acquiring a disguise will be more “physics-based,” requiring precise positioning, grabbing, and consideration of momentum.
As a gaming enthusiast, I can’t wait to dive into the immersive world of Hitman: World of Assassination on PlayStation VR2! In the not-so-distant future, you’ll find me there, exploring the main campaign with its 20 diverse locations. Plus, I’ll have more than 100 weapons and items at my disposal. And for those who already own this game, it will only cost $9.99 to join the action!
