Hoda Kotb Addresses Rumors She’s Replacing Kelly Clarkson

Hoda Kotb’s next chapter does not include usurping her former colleagues.

During her return to NBC’s Today show on May 28, four months after she left, Hoda’s old coworkers seized the chance to discuss a recent gossip that had been spreading: the rumor that Hoda might be chosen to replace Kelly Clarkson on her daytime program, The Kelly Clarkson Show.

In response to Craig Melvin’s inquiry about potential rumors, the 60-year-old expressed, “I’d like to pose a genuine question to you all. Suppose I were to return to TV, can you guess where I would only ever come back if given the chance? That place is here, undoubtedly.

So, when it comes to the rumors, Hoda issued a swift, “Delete, not true.”

Despite Savannah Guthrie’s lighthearted comments suggesting that Hoda’s renewed interest in playing the guitar might lead to a spinoff of her famous “Hoda-oke” segment, akin to Kelly’s popular Kellyoke, Hoda herself emphasized she has no plans to assume control.

In fact, she added that her upcoming appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show is “just for fun.”

Instead, the previous host is aiming for her latest endeavor: Joy 101, a fresh venture encompassing an application, live gatherings, and a subscription-based newsletter focusing on spreading positivity, mental clarity, and as you might expect, happiness.

Hoda shared that she’s pouring all her focus and energy into something aimed at uplifting others, which happens to be a highlight of the show for her. She asked, “What can we use to inspire? What can we share to lessen burdens? How can we help?

Currently, simply being at home with girls named Haley, aged 8, and Hope, aged 6, provides a significant source of comfort for Hoda. Given that the mother has recently disclosed Hope’s Type 1 diabetes diagnosis, she now has the opportunity to experience a greater portion of her daughters’ daily lives.

In an interview with People, published on May 28, she shared, “It’s truly amazing to understand there’s so much more to experience in life.” She continued, “I was unable to observe my children’s daily routines due to my work. However, I got to see Haley perform ‘What a Wonderful World’ at 9:15 a.m., which I would have otherwise missed.

She pondered more, “Once I believed life was about the significant events, but now I understand it’s all about those small moments in between.

And her kids are happy to have her around, too.

She shared that there are times when I’m busy in my office, and they’d rush up to the window, wave, and make a heart gesture. They’re content because they want me around, they’re simply overjoyed to see me, then they’d run off to continue playing.
