Hogwarts Legacy 2, Expanded First Game Both Reportedly in the Works

Avalanche Software, creators of Hogwarts Legacy, are working on a sequel to their hit wizarding game and an extended edition of the original, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier has confirmed. Warner Bros has hinted strongly that a second Hogwarts Legacy game is in the works, labeling it as one of their key future projects, but has been tight-lipped about releasing an updated version of the first installment with additional content.

Delving into the challenges Warner Bros is currently experiencing, particularly those affecting the Wonder Woman production, Schreier discusses how Avalanche Software has shifted focus towards creating additional content for Hogwarts Legacy and a subsequent sequel. Previously, he mentioned that parts of the Suicide Squad team, Rocksteady Studios, were enlisted to aid in the development of this new content.

Regarding the upcoming sequel, there’s a sense of uncertainty among Warner Bros executives about whether they can duplicate or even exceed the success of the initial Hogwarts Legacy game, which was the best-selling title of 2023 with over 34 million units sold. The question is if the anticipation has been fulfilled already.

Avalanche Software has revisited Hogwarts Legacy to incorporate fresh elements such as Photo Mode and the ability for players to modify the game, but they haven’t yet included the usual expansions. Nevertheless, there are indications that additional content might be released later in the year.
