Enthusiasts of Team Cherry’s highly anticipated sequel, Hollow Knight: Silksong, were eagerly expecting a fresh trailer and a definitive release date during Summer Game Fest and Xbox Games Showcase last weekend. Unfortunately, the only thing revealed was that it will be launched before Holiday 2025, which is not much information and hasn’t quelled the hunger of fans yearning for updates. And following this announcement, one developer of Silksong has playfully hinted at additional content for the game.
During a live stream on Wednesday by YouTuber Primacon, who is fond of Hollow Knight, he expressed the idea that the continuous flow of jokes and memes about Silksong, which fans have been eagerly sharing in anticipation, will not stop once the game is finally released. In response, Matthew “Leth” Griffin, the lead for marketing Silksong, left a brief yet meaningful message in the chat.
He wrote, “There’s always more content through DLC,” without providing any additional details. As anticipated, the conversation erupted with exclamations like “DLC?!” and “DLC CONFIRMED?!”, causing Primacon to break into laughter. “I guess someone’s going to save that and share it on the subreddit,” he commented.

Based on who you talk to, the DLC for Silksong could be seen as an exciting development or a painful reminder similar to Geoff Keighley’s comment during Summer Game Fest. While the arrival of DLC would undoubtedly be positive news, Leth’s statement here doesn’t unequivocally confirm it (given the context, there’s a strong possibility he was joking and there may not be any DLC planned). Regardless, there’s no denying that there’s an undercurrent of frustration given the delay in releasing the sequel after so much time has passed – it’s been a long wait.

One person exclaimed, “RELEASE THE GAME FIRST BEFORE TALKING ABOUT DLC!” They also questioned how discussing DLC could be possible before the base game’s release date. This fan, visibly frustrated, even included a crying emoji in their comment.
Once more, it’s uncertain if this is truly a DLC confirmation or merely speculation. With Leth’s hint sounding like something a joker might say before scampering off in laughter, I’m inclined to believe it could be a jest.
