Enthusiasts of the game “Hollow Knight: Silksong” are excited as a new update suggests its imminent release. Since 2017, when the original “Hollow Knight” was warmly received by critics and hailed as one of the best Metroidvania games, there’s been talk about a sequel. Team Cherry confirmed in 2019 that they were indeed working on “Hollow Knight: Silksong,” which quickly became one of the most eagerly awaited titles. This side-scrolling game has been in development for six years now, and fans have been waiting patiently for its release ever since.
Hollow Knight: Silksong, over time, has undergone several updates, although these have been somewhat spaced out. Compared to its predecessor, Silksong is anticipated to be significantly larger in size and complexity, with the small Team Cherry behind it embodying a great deal of ambition. Fortunately, it’s expected that Silksong will make its long-awaited debut in 2025. In addition, the game is set to be playable at a museum this fall, hinting that it may well be ready for release by then. There’s been much anticipation for updates on the game, and it seems there’s a possibility that some news might be shared during Summer Game Fest.
Following a long period of no news about “Hollow Knight: Silksong”, enthusiasts have recently received an update that has them buzzing with excitement. Notably, SteamDB page for “Silksong” saw updates to its packages after 15 months without any changes. Typically, fans might be slightly more cautious, but these updates occurred just before Summer Game Fest and the upcoming Xbox showcase, which has sparked optimism among fans.

It was recently confirmed that “Silksong” is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 and is expected to be released in 2025. Since the Nintendo Switch 2 launches this week, there’s a possibility that “Silksong” might get a surprise release alongside it, allowing players to enjoy it immediately following any showcase appearances. However, it’s uncertain if “Silksong” will also be available on Switch 2 simultaneously, but such a move would certainly delight Switch 2 owners eager to expand their launch game collection.
It’s quite plausible that Silksong could reveal its launch details during Xbox’s event on Sunday, given their arrangement for the game to debut on Xbox Game Pass on day one. Moreover, Xbox is renowned for unveiling major releases at their events, and this could be the title they select. However, we must caution against high expectations as it’s possible that nothing significant happens. Perhaps we’ll see a demo, maybe just a release date announcement, or it might be completely silent. In any case, the excitement is building!
Are you hoping to see Silksong get an update this week? Let me know in the comments.
