Hollow Knight: Silksong Won’t Appear at Gamescom’s Opening Night Live

As a seasoned gamer with decades of gaming under my belt, I can’t help but feel a sense of both excitement and frustration as Gamescom’s Opening Night Live approaches. On one hand, the prospect of getting glimpses at new titles like Black Ops 6, Indiana Jones, and Marvel Rivals has me buzzing with anticipation. Yet, on the other, the absence of Hollow Knight: Silksong from the lineup leaves a noticeable void in my heart.

Gamescom’s Opening Night Live hosted by Geoff Keighley is just days away now, set to take place on August 20th and livestreamed at 11am PT / 2pm ET / 7pm BST / 8pm CEST. Keighley has been using social media to build excitement for the livestream, announcing various games that audiences can expect to see showcased during the event including Black Ops 6, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Marvel Rivals, and more. One of the games people have been wondering whether or not we’ll see an update for is Hollow Knight: Silksong, which Keighley has gone ahead and addressed beforehand to set expectations.

As a longtime follower of Team Cherry and their enchanting games, I was eagerly awaiting the announcement of Silksong’s release during Opening Night Live (ONL). However, upon reading their recent post on X (formerly Twitter), my excitement was tempered by the news that Silksong won’t be part of this year’s event.

It’s been over five years since Hollow Knight: Silksong was unveiled, and during this period, the developers at Team Cherry have only shared a few trailers for the game. There hasn’t been any hint about the release date of the game, causing fans to grow increasingly impatient as the game remains inactive with no new information or updates. However, prior to Keighley’s latest brief update, a playtester named Graig mentioned that Silksong is not stuck in a development limbo as some speculated, suggesting instead that the game is an enormous project that demands such a long development time.

In Hollow Knight: Silksong, players embark on an adventure with Hornet, the royal guardian of Hallownest. Caught in a foreign land, Hornet journeys through a silk-ruled kingdom, singing its songs, and uncovers secrets while fighting enemies and climbing towards the peak of this realm.

As an ardent admirer, I eagerly anticipate the thrilling sequel to the acclaimed action-adventure game, Hollow Knight – Silksong. This enthralling continuation invites me, as Hornet, to explore fresh territories, master novel abilities, and engage in battles against swarms of intriguing bugs and creatures. The Steam page for Silksong remains coy about a specific release date, leaving us devoted fans to add the game to our wishlist and exercise patience.
