Hanafuda, an age-old Japanese card game from the early 1800s, is undergoing a contemporary transformation through the efforts of the VTuber agency, Hololive.
The upcoming video game called Hololive Holo’s Hanafuda is planned for launch on both PS5 and PS4 systems globally. It offers a fresh, contemporary interpretation of an age-old favorite.
This game offers not only the standard rule systems for hanafuda – Koi-Koi, Oicho-Kabu, and Hana Awase – but also an exclusive game mode called Holo Awase. As a result, there are four distinct gameplay styles available to engage in competitive matches, whether they’re online or offline.

For the inquisitive, Holo Awase involves pairing Hololive characters together to finish sets, after which you can deploy their associated abilities.
The game’s due out globally on 31st July, and you can check out a brief trailer embedded above.
