Honor of Kings: World is Playable Solo, AI Companions Detailed by Lead Designer

Back in November 2021, the long-awaited multiplayer adventure RPG, Honor of Kings: World, from TiMi Studio Group finally made its appearance. While updates have been infrequent, Tencent recently held a private playtest at GDC 2025, inviting media personnel to give it a try. Since then, impressions have gradually surfaced, but lead designer Simon disclosed to WCCF Tech that the game remains completely playable by oneself.

If you’re curious about it, I’d put it this way: ‘I personally enjoy the game, as it offers a rich single-player experience when desired. However, we’ve also designed a multiplayer aspect that doesn’t interfere with your gameplay. It’s there if you ever feel like teaming up or need a hand during a challenging boss fight. But remember, help is always available without causing any disruptions.’

When entering a dungeon, you’ll find that we pair you with other players of comparable skill level, although the specific rules about this aren’t fully clear yet. It’s also possible for you to utilize AI companions, which Simon refers to as “helper functions.

In case you’re unable to find a friend to play with or prefer solo gaming, there are alternatives like AI companions in dungeons and similar settings. Essentially, these AI companions serve as helpful assistants during gameplay.”

“However, it’s unclear if the game allows for temporarily recruiting other players’ characters as support units, with AI taking control of them.

Despite the abundance of fresh updates, the launch date for Honor of Kings: World remains unannounced, as the development team tirelessly strives to make it available online without delay. Exclusive playtests are currently underway, and the game is slated for both console and PC platforms. Keep an eye out for further announcements, and don’t forget to watch the latest trailer right here.
