Horizon Adaptation Has Been Changed from Movie to TV Show

The adaptation of Sony’s Horizon series, initially announced as a movie during CES 2025 in January, appears to have morphed into a television show format instead. In an interview with Variety, the head of PlayStation Productions, Asad Qizilbash, expressed that there’s an appetite for game adaptations into movies and shows, provided they are executed effectively.

As a gamer, I’ve noticed a significant shift over the past five to six years: video game adaptations, when executed well, can truly resonate with audiences and have massive appeal. It’s been fascinating to witness this transformation in the world of entertainment. We’re finally delivering top-notch content that gamers and non-gamers alike can enjoy!

According to him, this strong determination to make it perfect is what caused the “Horizon” adaptation to be transformed from a film into a television series. As stated by Qizilbash, “it simply didn’t develop creatively in the way we had envisioned.

It’s important to point out that alterations at this stage probably won’t negatively impact the final product’s quality, given that the production process is presumably just getting started. As of now, neither Sony nor Columbia has disclosed any details about the cast or crew working on the project.

The production is expected to follow a style similar to HBO’s “The Last of Us,” as it primarily stuck to the original game content but also incorporated slight modifications to make the narrative more suitable for a series format.

preparations are underway for the second season premiere of “The Last of Us” on April 13th. Prior to this, a fresh trailer for the show has been released. In other news related to “The Last of Us”, the PC version of “The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered” was launched last week. For additional information, take a look at our review.
