House of the Dragon Reveals a Brand New Dragonrider

As a devoted fan of “House of the Dragon,” I couldn’t help but feel my heart race during Sunday’s episode as we finally saw Addam of Hull’s long-awaited connection to Seasmoke come to life. The anticipation has been building for weeks, with hints and teasers that Addam would be one of the new dragonriders. And boy, was it worth the wait!

Caution: This article may reveal significant plot points from House of the Dragon Season 2. Proceed with caution if you wish to avoid spoilers!

Over the past few weeks, there have been hints that Addam of Hull could become a dragonrider on “House of the Dragon.” It’s almost certain that he and his brother Alyn are sons of Lord Corlys Velaryon, who has a long lineage of dragonriders. Laenor, another son of Corlys, vanished in Season 1 by faking his death, leaving his dragon, Seasmoke, without an rider. Addam appears to have a bond with Seasmoke, as they encountered each other for the first time in this episode.

After our refusal to connect with Ser Steffon Darklyn and his unfortunate demise at my hands, Seasmoke grew uneasy and took off on its own. It seemed that the dragon was heading towards Addam, sensing their shared lineage with Laenor. The show hinted at Seasmoke coming to a stop before Addam, but it didn’t show him climbing aboard for a ride.

A few dragonseed characters named Hugh and Ulf are yet to make an appearance on “House of the Dragon,” having not yet formed connections with dragons. These characters have previously been hinted at in the series.

According to George R.R. Martin’s “Fire & Blood” novel, the events in “House of the Dragon” take place 200 years prior to those in “Game of Thrones.” In the second season of “House of the Dragon,” Westeros is on the verge of a brutal civil war as the Green and Black Councils clash over their allegiance to King Aegon or Queen Rhaenyra. Tune in to HBO every Sunday at 9 p.m. ET for new episodes of “House of the Dragon.”

As a passionate fan of Game of Thrones and a dedicated follower of all things related to the Targaryen dynasty, I couldn’t be more thrilled about the upcoming release of “House of the Dragon.” And with the recent announcement of the show’s impressive cast, my excitement has reached an all-time high!
